Shoe buying is modern day torture. i feel your pain

I agree with you, always dread it

I only let the DCs choose from the shoes they bring out in the right size. Finding a pair you like and then them not having the size is an unecessary hassle.

I agree, which is why I don't do it. I take them to town to get measured, then buy online. So much easier and saves trawling around from shop to shop.

I buy online thinking I have a great bargain but they never ever fit so it doesn't work for me

went shoe shopping myself today with DD and DS. Came home without shoes. DS never gets any in Clarks cos they never fit - will try Next for him, as usual, or M&S. DD average size - they didn't have a single pair in her size.

Order online from Clarks, you can order up to 5 pairs delivered to your nearest shop, for free, go to get them fitted and heh presto, easy shoe shopping!

Can't bear it, but has got easier since found a really good children's shoe shop run by a podiatrist. It's a bit of a trek but can always park and whilst one dc is being fitted the other is in the other room playing with the toys or the Xbox - even dh likes coming on those shopping trips. Now what I need is the adult equivalent

Went to Bluewater today, they had ONE PAIR in DD's size. Thank GAWD she liked them and they fitted well. I was a happy mum! Got DS's in Next, took a gamble and bought them without him being with me and WAHOO they fit! Double happiness.

I have an eleven yr old DD with very narrow feet and it's a NIGHTMARE!

We have sometimes spent months trying to find anything to fit.

There is usually one pair of school shoes in Startrite that fit ("Hope you like them, dear"), but what we'll do once they no longer do her size, I dread to think. The last pair had to have extra padding stuck in by the shop to make them a half-way decent fit.

The rest of the year she slopes around in Uggs or flipflops - neither of which are great for her rolling ankles...

Grr!

By the way, any suggestions please on where to buy young girls' shoes for narrow feet?

blueywhite don't know about school shoes & am absolutely dreading trying to find any to fit DD1's wonky little feet! For out-of-school shoes converse are very narrow, nice flexible soles too. Also v. cute with jeans.

Also Keen shoes are awesome, esp the sandals. Fit very narrow DD1 beautifully, very comfortable, a little rugged but cute enough IMO. DH wears nothing else now, has had troubles all his adult life trying to find shoes to fit his wonky little feet (good luck DD1!) They run slightly small IME.

it is so frustrating - in summer hols they have winter shoes, mid year there is practically nothing, and as soon as snow falls all that will be available are canvas doodles!

I'm not wrong am I?

Rather - good luck! Have friends with DDs with wide fittings who were in adult shoes at age 9 and visiting specialist shops in London for school shoes.
