to not want to 'go shopping with the girls'

Does anyone else here feel a rising dread when it's suggested that you spend time with the wives/partners in your group of friends?

Am off out to a thing this weekend which will involve eating, drinking and being merry in the open air. When I said I wouldn't be wanting to get rat-arsed because I am TTC my DH suggested that I would be ok because I could go 'shopping with the girls'.

Arrgghhhh... I can't think of anything worse than ambling round shops looking at things I don't want or can't afford. I'd rather be having good conversation about things that are more interesting...

God, no, I'd rather clean the toilets at Waterloo station than go shopping with the girls!

As for red lipstick, I only buy one every few years.

I always ask which one would suit me, the make up people always say. 'Here's a red lipstick with blue tones'... why blue tones, what does it mean...

It doesn't suit me more does it, it's just something they learn at selling school surely

I love it, but only with a certain group of female mates. But, to be honest, we don't do much actual shopping and give in to Witherspoons wine very quickly

Whenever I go out in a group of couples I find the groups splits along gender lines pretty quickly. Which is a godsend really, as I can have a proper conversation with an intelligent woman whilst DP and friends discuss footie for literally hours with his mate interrupting now and then to give the entire script and synopsis of the latest horror film he saw.

Fair enough, talking about lipstick might get quite dull after a while but I've yet to meet the woman who actually does this, and indeed I lol at the idea that for intellectual chat you have to hang out with men. Not in my world, sister!
