rant rant rant.

school and dancing reqire sick-note with regards to DD3 having swine flu. school because she is down to 80% attendance already this term due to this and also contracting norovirus 2wks back and having a week off.

dance school are asking as she was supposed to be doing dance exams on saturday and obviously can;t, and for me to get money back they need a note (completely reasonable).

what is not is that the GP said it it will cost £10 as she is a child not an employee, and besides, the governmnet has decreed that anyone suffering swine-flu should not need a note.................all another way of taxing us IMVHO as IME employers do still require sick-notes so they can pay sickpay properly.

tis soooooooooo not fair.

just coming back to say that DH went to GP for me today to collect the sicknote, only to find a big full-on letter explaining about the swine-flu plus her immune deficiancy.

feel better now about the £10, as the letter is a far better addition to her school health record than a flimsy note.....was not expecting that at all I must admit.

taking back the pissed off feeling for the GP now, but still very irrited that I have to provide extra proof over and above what I had already.

as for the dance exams, I won;t be getting money back according to the teacher, they are putting her in to the next lot for free....cannot complain really now can I.

thanks all

Glad it all worked out so well!

YABsoooU - okey umm say it takes 5 mins to do the note - not effing 2secs - print it out sign it etc!!
100 requests or so a week in a middle sized practice (and if every child with swine flu needs one for school and one for dance class it'll be a hell of a lot more than a 100!!)
So 100x5 = 500 mins/week = over 8 hours a week ON CHUFFING sick notes, maybe just maybe your GP has better things to do, um like actually see sick patients
Am betting dance class, and shoes, and costumes, and photos etc etc cost a hell of a lot more than £10!

calm down macdoodle, read my reply two posts down and you will see all sorted.

There have been a few more eloquent answers than yours that had already pointed out I
was being unreasonable thanks very much, and from GP's, explaining why.
