AIBU to suspect that the Fantastic Mr Fox film has been ruined by Americans?

Loved the book as a child, loved it, I've been hoping for thirty years that it would be made into a good film.

Mr Fox with an American accent, talking about real estate and using a credit card???

Baseball references?

FFS.

DD's love their FMF cd. every so often I play it on the laptop so I can MN work in peace.
We were going to take them but after watching the trailer, which looks like an Ocean's 11/gangster heist movie we have decided not to for fear of DD1 getting very cross and yelling at the screen.
Mr Fox is NOT George Clooney smoothie.
wankers.

er just don't go and watch it?

Nancy66 · 13/10/2009 11:33

I've just watched the trailer and think it looks good.

My first thought was the same as alana's. Will it still be cider? Or will it have changed to "beer" or even apple juice for a childs audience???

I think this is sad too.

would you believe it was directed by a Brit and created largely in the UK. the funding was US though

Pumpkinbummum · 13/10/2009 11:44

Ohh don't tell me that dd1 is soo looking forward to this

CornishKK I'm with you abou
t the remake of Charlie and choc factory, and what was with all the squirels chasing the girl way to scary,
don't get me started, stick to the original!!

Boco - YES, David Nivenesque is Mr Fox.

SouthEast - I see your point but if this version has been made a GOOD version won't get made. I'm looking forward to reading books with my PFB when he's older and then watching a good film version of it together afterwards. The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe would be a good one. It's one of those thing I fondly I imagined I would do with my happy Walton style family.

Of course PFB may very well hate reading and be purely interested in Transformers....

Nancy66 - did you love the book though. I'm sure the film is great, it's just not the film of the book.

This is why we don't do Disney in our house - they always ruin classics.
