when ds1s consultation had taken all of 5 minutes.
i dint want her to TOUCH it or prescribe or anything, just look at his week long rash?

i said "i know you dread the words "while we are here" but i wonder if..."

no sorry , said she "no ad hoc consulations"

so NOW i will have to see the GP, he will have to do the paperwork all for her to say " its an allergic reaction go and get it checked out"

ybvu Ds2 wasnt booked in say he had given wrong advice you would be moaning then too i suppose?

but if consultant had said its an allergy and it should go away and it didnt how pissed off would you be then? you cant expect a doctor too look at another child who they know nothing about and give advice surley that would be wrong?

Very unreasonable, in my opinion. The consultant was already 30 mins behind schedule - probably for very good reasons - that's her schedule as well as yours. Once the clinic is over, they meet with the junior staff also doing the clinic and review the patients; they dictate the letters that need to go as a result of the clinic to the GP, to another specialty etc; they go back to the ward and wrap up there and by that time are probably hours behind schedule and then maybe they can go home to their family ... add in however many extra ad hoc opinions on non-clinic matters and that time just stretches on ...

You could go and see a pharmacist for an allergic rash.

I agree with what the consultant told you. If it needs a doctor then you should go through your GP. There's loads of reasons for this including having treatments properly documented in your dc's medical record.

The consultant was probably mindful of being 30 mins behind too. I would have expected an attempt at "Sorry for keeping you!" in the beginning though but have found doctors, whilst they refuse to see you if you are late, rarely apologise for keeping you waiting.

ah well interesting about the pharmacist as this is what i thought.
i got there and the pharmacist treated me like I was some nut job when he eventually deigned to look.
