She's been there for 15 minutes now and is loving every minute.

ds used to love it too... now he likes to shove mobile phones in there so I guess enjoy it while it lasts!

ArizonaBarker · 09/10/2009 19:20

In front of = good.

Inside = bad. Allegedly.

cheekysealion · 09/10/2009 19:21

my dd used to like the sound of the hairdryer and hoover

McDie79 · 09/10/2009 19:28

yanbu,my 10 week old loves it,I pop her in her chair in front of it first thing in the morning so I can have a whole cup of coffee before starting the daily feeding/sterlising/nappy changing torture
routine

notcitrus · 09/10/2009 19:29

It's better than CBeebies according to my 12mo...

ThePrettiestStar · 09/10/2009 19:29

Ha ha AB

Morloth · 09/10/2009 19:30

Have you actually sat and watched the washing go round? It is kind of hypnotic - it is very nice indeed.

Tortington · 09/10/2009 19:31

i used to put the twins in front of the washing machine

give me some peace. its excellent

hanaboo · 09/10/2009 19:32

my dd 4yo now and she'll watch the whole cycle.... if its the day i wash her raggy (blanky type thing)lol

SmallSCREAMCap · 09/10/2009 19:34

Wow, am sittimg here with baby who has been writhing and fussing for half an hour. Just turned the hair dryer on, he is now gazing at me adoringly and relaxed completely.

Thank you cheekysealion.

DD used to love the hoover, but the hairdryer is easier!

Yanbu, this keeps dc entertained for ages!

SmallSCREAMCap · 09/10/2009 19:34

oops

EccentricaGallumbats · 09/10/2009 19:37

I used to do this. The DDs are now fairly disturbed normal.

EdgarAllenPoo · 09/10/2009 19:40

apparently my Dh did this when small. now he watches formula 1 - the difference to me seems very slight.

SmallSCREAMCap · 09/10/2009 19:40

He has now given me a couple of beaming toothless smiles and gone to sleep.

How much do I owe you

lisianthus · 09/10/2009 19:47

I am so going to try this. Mine loves the hairdryer too, particularly if I "swish" her with my hair too. Of course, if she actually manages to grab a handful of my hair, it can get painful.

ohmeohmy · 09/10/2009 19:50

I used to pop into the laundrette with DS when he was small for a 'treat'!

TrillianSlasher · 09/10/2009 20:04

D'you reckon it's the white noise? Like in the womb with blood rushing around and stomach noises. That's the only thing I can think to link washing machine, hoover, and hairdryer.

SmallSCREAMCap · 09/10/2009 20:06

I think so Trillian. Anything with an engine, really.

insertwittynicknameHERE · 09/10/2009 20:14

I must try this with the DD1, I might get some peace from the seemingly never ending repeating of 'geese are naughty, they get ya, gra gra chase em, naughty geese'

gra gra = grandad

SmallSCREAMCap · 09/10/2009 20:24

insert - how old is DD1 though? IME it only works with small babies, but you never know

notevenamousie · 09/10/2009 20:28

EAP - love it.
My dd was resistant when a little baby. Around 8-10 months - I could get all the washing up done and the lunch made. Marvellous!

...this backs up my point about Formula 1!

OnlyWantsOneFartleBerry · 09/10/2009 20:46

I sit and watch my washing machine, im 22...
