My partner and i, decided to married next year
We foned around for venues, n prices etc, n a particular venue did a £1500 wedding package, to include vintage car, 3 course meal for 50 people in the day, buffet for 80 in the evening, professional photographer with 30 pic album, disco and dj etc for evening
We had planned the wedding for 4th sept, but registry office didnt have any dates in september, but had a spot free for 28th august, bank hols weekend
My partner foned this venue, who also stated they were available, and put menu"s etc in post for us to chose, we would have 7 days to bring the paperwork back and pay deposit, but they had assured us the date was booked.
So we booked the registry office, and paid the deposit of £43.50 yesterday
However, 10 mins ago the venue foned to say they had double booked, and had already been booked for a wedding that day
The lady on the fone seemed, not one bit sorry, n was basically asking us what alternative dates we"d like, even after been told the deposit had been paid to registry office,
I know that im never gonna afford to pay more than what they were asking for the package, one venue has quoted me £800 for the afternoon meals alone
AIBU to expect the venue to refund me the deposit of the registry office, seeing as i only picked that date because they had assured it was available, and they had booked us in?
