Oh I do hope I haven't - I really hope what I did was reasonable

I manage a small nursery

One of my children has been 'diagnosed' with suspected meningitis - in hospital & being treated with antibiotics as a precaution until the test results come back.

The hospital will be phoning me in the morning to chat about 'what I need to tell the parents'

So I phoned all my parents & told them the facts as I knew them.

I didn't think I could chance a child getting ill over night without their parents being aware of the risk

Was I being unreasonable?

I am scared I might have worried people unnecessarily

my son had pneumococcal meningitis when he was 3 - that type isnt easily transmitted but id have appreciated being told if the boot had been on the other foot so i think you did the right thing. it s hard to know what to do without panicking people, but some types are easily spread so you definitely did the right thing.

my lad spent 6 weeks in hospital. its a killer, he was one of the lucky ones. Kat, your poor friends family, i really feel for them. i dont think ive ever been through anything worse in my life and i wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy.
