to be dreading the teenage years

When my three dds all start getting pmt?

We are having a grumpy day here and the bad moods have been passed around the four of us. Am tearing my hair out a bit at the thought of hormones being added to the mix. Can't decide if us all being in synch would be better or worse: four weeks of minor hell or one of full-blown war?

heehee, I know what you mean. I have DD1 who is 5 and a baby DD and also am fostering long-term a girl who is 10. It'll be fun in our house. There is a DS too though, don't know if I feel worse for him for DH!

Curlyredhead, I am sooo with you on this. My and my 3 DDs have also had a few seriously grumpy days. Unlike you, I don't feel too sorry for my DH though, as I recall from my teenage years it was my mum who bore the brunt of all the hormones.......

Teenagers are lovely as long as you realise they're not adults (however much they look like it, they're just on the way there). It is also very import to REMEMBER HOW IT WAS FOR YOU!!!! Be patient - the smallest things in the world are immense for teenagers!Give them space, don't ask too many questions (a difficult one!) and try to trust them to be sensible. Remember that your main aim (much more important than GCSE/AS/A levels) is to make them independent, unless you want them living with you for the next 40 years!!!

Bear in mind that lots of women are not really affected by pmt at all and remain rational, sensible and painless throughout.

Curly I am one of 4 girls with less than 6 years between us. I'm sure that we drove my parents mad, but think the fact they were half way there before they had us helped. My two older sisters were difficult from the off, but nothing to do with puberty. Other than that I can only say that I have a 12 year old ds and 13 year old ds and they are lovely, lovely, lovely. I would not change them for the world and find them easier to deal with as they get older and not harder. . I'm sure that as yours get older you will deal with things as they happen and not be daunted by the thought of what is coming.

Thank you for all the replies, lovely to hear positive thoughts, and experiences from similar family set ups. My lot are 4, 1 and 1 still, so real teenage years a
long way off...
