Is C/O Mr & Mrs usual when sending something to grandchild?

Or shouldn't it just be addressed to our child directly?

Things are strained on the relative relationship front at the moment, and last week we received something for our child from our IL's addressed to the child's name at our family home address and then then C/o Mr & Mrs.(me and my DH)

I wan't sure whether this was pointed as I thought c/o implied that someone was temporarily staying at an address that wasn't usually their home?

The IL's ignored my birthday just last week and are now down to sending things just to our children. I think this is childish, but it doesn't bother me, but I am concerned about the use of 'c/o'. Any thoughts?

It is very normal especially if dcs are very young. When they are older they like things addressed to them if I send presents that might be early for a birthday I always put c/o so parents can intercept and hide.

My DP and I have lived together for years. His parents address mail to me as 'XXX (first name only) C/O DP. It makes me feel like the pet or something. It is irritating as hell! As an adult who is a constant part of the family, it makes me feel transient and certainly not permanent.

Seems normal enough to me?my grandparents would send presents that way.

The ?c/o duty? my Mum had was to unwrap the brown parcel paper and make sure the present made it under the tree or to the birthday unopened, perhaps they though that if the addressed it directly to us we wouldn?t have been able to help ourselves and opened it before the day.
