to want to shout about Stagecoach bus?

There are regularly threads putting down bus services on here, especially that of First bus. Well, I daily take a Stagecoach and a First bus on my commute to work, and the First bus is rubbish, majority of drives are miserable fools...

BUT the Stagecoaches almost always come on time and the buses are clean and comfortable and I can count on just two of my fingers how many times I have encountered a miserable driver. They are ALWAYS so friendly and jolly and one even said that he hopes I have a nice week as I got off today. Nice!

yanbu,

its nice when people say nice things without having too, i had someone in a shop say have a nice day and it was just nice normally you just get, card or cash?

Stagecoach are our favourite bus company too. Totally agree about the drivers. None better. One of the drivers we had was a retired chartered accountant. He said he did it just for fun to get out of the house. All the employees get shares in the company and have the best pensions in the industry.

I remember when Ann Gloag first started - she used to make stovies for the passengers on the Perth to Inverness service and once when the bus departed smartish - leaving a couple of us at the depot- we were whisked up the A9 by one of the staff.

Oh, GentleOtter. I remember one time around 1981 when stagecoach first started up, misreading the timetable. I wanted to go to Dundee but the bus terminated in Perth. I ended up in Perth late at night frightened out of my wits (was only 17). Brian Souter gave the driver permission to drive me all the way to Dundee. I also remember Ann Gloag making sandwiches and filling flasks for the London passengers.

I think their Mum helped with the flasks and sanwiches too, Pacific. I remember the London bus and a passenger getting a right scolding for swearing, from the Mum.

It has been such a tough time for Ann Gloag lately and I feel that she should be recognised for all the work she has put in to the Mercy Ships and in Africa.
