to think that the new pactice manager is a complete --knob-- jobsworth?

My doctor surgery used to be very helpful, lovely reception staff, lovely docs. Then this new practice manager has started and is making up completely arbitrary rules.

For instance, I phoned this moring for a repeat prescription (as I have done for every quarter for about 7 years) and the receptionist informs me that there is now a new rule/process. Repeat prescriptions have to be recieved either in writing or in person to the doctor!!!

So instead of me bhind able to pick up tablets from chemist this afternoon, I have an appointment for later this week.

Does anyone elese think that this knob manager is just creating more work for already overworked doctors?

I don't understand why you have made an appointment when you can just put it in writing?

Agree with llareggub. It sounds like a letter with sae would have done. You said in writing OR GP appointment. It's your decision to take time off work for an appointment rather than send letter in that case. You sound a bit of a drama queen.

Why dont you cancel the appointment and just send in a letter if you can do that. If you type it on your computer and save it and your drug dose is always the same then you could just print one off every 3 months, put it in the post, and that wouldnt take too much time.

llareggub In writing to the doctor.....no other way to get medication without coming face to face with a doc....

No, it is the same system as ours.

All I have to do is leave a letter with the receptionist asking for my repeat prescription. The GP prints it off and signs it. No need to see her unless it is for a review, which is normally done by the nurse practitioner. You don't need to see the GP at all.
