To think the supermarket should've checked my damn age?

A few days ago, I purchased an over 15's classified DVD. I scanned it through on the self-serve machines and not once did anyone come over to check how old I was and the machine didn't say anything or stop the sale. I was quite angry. Was IBU?

The self serve tilss are all manned by one overlooking staff member and they have a screen on which everything scanned comes up. So they would see what it was and be able to tackle you should they need to.

yabu someone will have glanced over and made sure you weren't u15. same thing happens when you buy beer, no one has to physically come over to you.

Er the last time I bought a dvd from a supermarket it came in a plastic box that you need a special device to open. So it would be then that they would question your age.
So you didn't really do this, did you?

I bought 3 dvds in tesco the other day and none had the boxes, noone checked I was over 8 (all pg ) However, at 25, I was asked for ID when buying cigs in Co-op in cornwall. Ditto later that day when I happened to wander down wine aisle to get to till (staff lady looked up from shelf and said, we need ID for you to be in this section )

Few months ago I was buying a bottle of wine in a co-op, the rather unattractive male specimen manning the till asked me for ID, I looked askance (am wrong side of 35ish), he sniggered and said "ha, only joking!"
I felt great.

The self service tills at our local Sainsburys would prevent this.

The other week we were buying the weekend paper and it flagged up that assistance was required. Turned out it contained a free DVD of Shawshank Redemption which is a 15.
