Of course it is- that's why it's fun!

brightwell · 21/09/2009 17:48

if only she understood the joys of mn. Tell her it's something she'll appreciate when she's a grown up.

MrsVik · 21/09/2009 17:49

She is BVVU!!! People don't only whinge about their kids! They whinge about all kinds of other things too.

FlamingoDuBeke · 21/09/2009 17:49

She's right.

In what way would you be being unreasonable? Do you disagree?

duchesse · 21/09/2009 17:49

running commentary from my elbow- "OMG, who is that sad person who's already said something?"

She MEANT to be scribing for me, not assassinating my character...

["you haven't got a character, mother!]

I LURVE being the mother of teenagers...

my DD calls it Mums Bebo

HecatesTwopenceworth · 21/09/2009 17:51

It is for bored parents but as for discussing the kids..naaaaaa. For a parenting website, a surprisingly small number of posts are about the kids

FlamingoDuBeke · 21/09/2009 17:51

Hello Duchesse's daughter.

duchesse · 21/09/2009 17:52

She's waving back in a rather unpleasant 14 yr old sort of way.

I mentioned to a friend that i use this sight for the nanny section...which ok i havent been on in ages BUT its there when i need to go on it! (chat and aibu much more fun!)

i dont think its sad or silly! its fun and informative!

oh, yes your DD is bu! as is my friend!

teamcullen · 21/09/2009 17:55

tell her you could always moan about her on facebook and add all her mates as guests.

But YANBU my dd (13) cant see the attration either, although all the childless 20 somethings in work are always asking me whats the MN scandal.

scottishmummy · 21/09/2009 17:56

she is right where else can you see detritus of someone else life

famishedass · 21/09/2009 17:56

Hasn't your dd got anything better to do than be mean about Mumsnet? Like putting some spot cream on?

RustyBear · 21/09/2009 17:57

Well, myspace/bebo are for bored kids whinging about their parents, so where's the difference? (Apart from the fact that we are funnier)

duchesse · 21/09/2009 18:01

Nope and i don't plan on either! :P

OP posts:
duchesse · 21/09/2009 18:02

WE don't whinge about our children but we do whinge about:

our parents
MIL
FIL
siblings
neighbours
school gate mums/dads
drivers
pedestrians
shop assistants
work colleagues
tele-sales callers
Jehovahs Witnesses
teachers
chuggers
random people we see in the street
.....and anyone else that doesn't fall into any of the categories above

bran · 21/09/2009 18:21

On the whole I whinge about DH and his family (I'm revving myself up for a rant following a phonecall from SIL), but essentially your DD is correct. I am pretty bored much of the time too, children are only intermittently fascinating.

MaggieBeauLeo · 21/09/2009 18:22

She's 14. I don't care what she thinks! Not saying that she's not lovely, underneath the fourteenness bykwim.

She doesn't understand that people are allowed to be older than..... say, fourteen

bidibidi · 21/09/2009 18:29

Let's see, what did I do when I was 14? Oh yeah, I remember: I whinged about my parents not giving enough money or freedom, I schemed to get more money to buy worthless tat or drugs stuff. I flirted with spotty boys who really weren't worth my time, and felt desperately sorry for myself because I was still a virgin. I expressed detailed admiration for rock singers who had died in pools of vomit.

Hmmm... gosh, I was clever in how I spent my free time, wasn't I?

duchesse · 21/09/2009 18:34

She is driving me flipping nuts. She's just so...14.

Maggie- you're so right- everybody over the age of 20 is on borrowed time as far as she's concerned.
