or is it naff, too bright, boy racerish or midlife crisisish?

www.hyundai.co.uk/i20

was going to go for the blue but it isn't as nice as it looks online

ohbabygivemeonemorechance · 20/09/2009 15:21

I was disappointed the blue was a bit dull and the interior only black~I had been so sure about blue I didn't have a plan B lol.

£7400 5 dr 1.2 comfort ~ the spec the "what car" site picked though I would have been ok with the entry level spec really.

OP posts:
carriedababi · 20/09/2009 15:28

7.4k you can't argue with that esp for 5dr.
have you got used to driving it yet?

i can drive my new car but i'm not very good at parking it yet

ohbabygivemeonemorechance · 20/09/2009 15:34

Yes it would have been 6995 if I had got the entry level classic spec!

It hasn't arrived yet ~ I ordered it yesterday though possibly I could change colour tomorrow.
It comes in in 3 to 4 weeks.
The test drive was fine.

What is your car?

OP posts:
carriedababi · 20/09/2009 15:42

are you tempted to change the colour?

my new one is audi a3 sportback[which means 5 doors]
like this in black
i had a sporty car before that so this new one is longer and wider.
therefore trickier to park, i took my dd swmming this am, and parked on the road rtaher than in the carpark

ohbabygivemeonemorechance · 20/09/2009 15:56

It's really nice!

I could change the colour to black it was quite good as I say the black one wasn't 100% clean so I may have been swayed by that on the day.

The blue was ok but a bit dull considering it is "sparkle blue".

I guess it would be at the discretion of the sales guy.

OP posts:
carriedababi · 20/09/2009 16:00

sounds like you want to.
the salesperson will not want to lose a sale

ohbabygivemeonemorechance · 20/09/2009 16:05

well it's 300 extra for the paint which is not a problem except for having to change the forms a bit.
I would never have considered a red car previously I guess it just looked quite nice on the day
I am busy tomorrow but it could be done by phone maybe

OP posts:
carriedababi · 20/09/2009 16:14

oh sorry hope i haven't put you off it!
take no notice of me
it does have the advantage of high visability!
which i'm not joking about, is a really good thing when your on the roads

but, if you do want to change the colour,
if you only ordered it yesterday, i'll bet they would change it, they will probably be chomping your hand off just to make sure you go ahead and buy it.

either way you've made a good buy there

ohbabygivemeonemorechance · 20/09/2009 16:44

don't worry it's not your fault!

I am not sure if I really liked it or I was just a bit carried away on the day and rushing to decide.

MrsGokWantstogocampingagain · 20/09/2009 16:46

My in laws have just bought this in the black. I would have gone for the red though .

carriedababi · 20/09/2009 16:49

sleep on it and see how you feel in the morning.

ohbabygivemeonemorechance · 20/09/2009 16:50

MrsGok did you see the red in the showroom?

OP posts:
rimmer08 · 20/09/2009 20:04

ohbaby..
were you asking me?
if so no i am not- am a female!!

nooka · 20/09/2009 20:16

Red is pretty mainstream in the UK, so I don't think anyone will make any deductions about you because of it. We have had two red Golfs, the first one was 10 when we sold it, and still nicely red (I don't know where the pink idea comes from). I think black cars show the dirt more personally. d wanted a white car this time around, but I think that is quite boy racer!

Here's a little article that might interest yo:
express-press-release.net/63/Autoquake.com%20Reveals%20Black%20As%20The%20UKs%20Most%20Popular%20Car %20Colour.php

This suggests that red is a bit 80s/90s, and black is the new mainstream.

Knickers0nmahead · 20/09/2009 20:17

YABU.

Red is the colour of the scummers Man utd.

ohbabygivemeonemorechance · 20/09/2009 21:39

Oh dear

I live in a very quiet rural area and will be recognised by my car within days.

However I am usually mainstream so I predict red will make a come back!

Maybe as the recession starts to recede people will start to buy red cars to cheer themselves up and look forward to better times!

OP posts:
ohbabygivemeonemorechance · 20/09/2009 21:40

mark my words red will be the new black

SausageRocket · 20/09/2009 21:45

I drive a bright blue car. It is a fab colour.

I have my eye on a red one next, but won't be for a good 2/3yrs yet as I only got my blue one in April!

ohbabygivemeonemorechance · 20/09/2009 21:57

MrsGok did you see the red in the showroom?

Yep!! and I much prefer it but then I love bright colours, black is so blah!

deste · 20/09/2009 22:24

We have had black, white and red. The red car we sold last week and it was nearly 9 years old and immaculate. The black car and the white cars were never clean for long. I now have a copper red and it is lovely.

crockydoodle · 20/09/2009 22:36

I've got a bright red one and I Love it.

mowbraygirl · 20/09/2009 22:39

We have a lovely bright red car it is a Mondeo. Is the 2nd red car that we had lst was a Vauxhall Viva which was bought new in 1971 sold it 10 years later still a very good colour red. Didn't plan a red one but DH knew what he wanted and at what price etc. and this fitted the bill. It is easy to spot in car parks as so many cars these days are silver.

ohbabygivemeonemorechance · 20/09/2009 22:54

Thanks girls

I must have liked it when I was there and I think I'm going to stick with it

Yay!

crocky is it an i20?
