I want one like this, or even better, like this, but they seem to be out of stock entirely. It would look darling with my Fly London boots as I go for a tramp in the woods. Can anybody help?

Is bindle the official name for one of those Dick Whittingtonny things?

eh ?

Tombliboobs · 17/09/2009 12:50

Try joules, theirs are just divine...

Hassled · 17/09/2009 12:50

But very poor quality sticks in both the examples you showed, I have to say, BOF. I wouldn't be able to show my face at the school gates with a stick like that. It wasn't even polished, FFS.

I was just thinking (from KMs thread) That I want to send my children out with a bindle each this weekend. I have a few spotty bandana things around I'll have to hunt them out (bodens too posh for me)

What are these use for nowadays? Do children take their packed lunches to school in them?

bronze · 17/09/2009 12:50

also do they need their grog in proper bottle?

GeeWhizz · 17/09/2009 12:51

Why do they always have polka dots on??

squeaver · 17/09/2009 12:51

Oh it's called a bindle is it?

While we're on it, why don't Boden do stick collections? My dd has to go to the woods herself to pick them up. Would be so much better if Johnnie could do a selection of pre-whittled ones.

BitOfFun · 17/09/2009 12:51

Obviously, they would have to be bought with some kind of money-off code, as I expect the all-willow stick and soft brushed corduroy don't come cheap. Perhaps I might find one on e-bay?

I think a Cath Kidston one would look divine.

Have you checked their website

Hassled · 17/09/2009 12:52

bronze - do try and keep up. The grog goes in the bindle, clearly.

Again, you need high quality sticks to cope with the weight.

squeaver · 17/09/2009 12:52

x-post hassled

Yes some good quality pop bottles would be tip-top.

BitOfFun · 17/09/2009 12:53

Pre-whittled, exactly! Us working mums can't be a-whittling all night as well as sewing on name badges, can we? I love the idea of a logo-ed one

I was going to suggest Joules too. Their kids clothes have the right sort of wholesome red-cheeked slight horsey charm. And they have such lovely prints too....

Sadly my DC would look ridiculous in Joules. They don't do wholesome .

SqueezyCheese · 17/09/2009 12:53

You could get ones with the stick part painted antique-French-white sort of thing?

BitOfFun · 17/09/2009 12:54

Grog-in-a-Bindle has a certain ring to it- perhaps a new gift idea for Gramps? Shall I post in the Christmas section?

OP posts:
MillyR · 17/09/2009 12:56

The stick should be painted from the Farrow and Ball organic paint range.

I suggest you try Tulip and Nettle for the cloth.

They'll be sold in the craft section as a make your own bindle kit.

Make Gramps make his own grog.

deepdarkwood · 17/09/2009 12:59

At last, a sensible use for that farking hotchpotch shit Johnny's been trying to pass off as 'fun' for years...

jetcat32 · 17/09/2009 12:59

How about a really nice walking stick that would def impress at the school gates. Just attach the fabric and away you go. Dual purpose

jetcat32 · 17/09/2009 13:00

BoF - can we call the grog in a bindle a 'Grindle'
