if i cut off a couple of nextdoors roses,and put them in a vase? they are slightly in my garden too?

climbing roses really tall, taller than the 6ft fence.
must be 8ft high at least, they are sort of going over into my garden.

so if i snipped them oof would it be out of order?

Snip away. It's hanging over your garden. it's not like you are chopping great branches off a tree.

FWIW I've been tempted in the past by the most beautiful peony bush in a house round the corner form me.

A single guy lives there and every year this bush produces THE most gorgeous flowers which would look a treat on my dining room table.

Instead they wither and die where they are, untouched and unappreciated....

My Mum's next door neighbour did this today. My folks are away and I happened to drive past just as he was snipping them - mind you he did it with bloody loppers so now the rose is going to be pruned incorrectly IYSWIM. I don't know whether to tell my Mum what I saw or just leave them to it.

I think it´s technically theft.

Just because it hangs over doesn´t give you the right to cut & keep.
I think you can cut something that hangs over, but fruit/flowers belong to the owner & should be given back.

Might be wrong, though!

You do legally have the right to trim anything overhanging your boundary but why not go round and ask?

I believe you are legally entitled to cut back anything that overhangs, but you are not entitled to keep it. So, fruit, flowers etc still belong to the owner of the plant even if they overhang your property.

You are allowed to trim anything that overhangs your poperty but you have to give the stuff to the owner that you cut down as it is still theirs

you have to offer it back, you don't have to give it back

otherwise people could just throw clippings back over the fence which would be a nuisance
