Ok I am probably being very ageist but I just got my second ever Boden purchase this morning and decided it nearly all looks worse in RL than it does in the catalogue. There are 2 things I'd like to keep but when I looked at the reviews of them on the website I have been put off keeping one of the tops because some reviewers who love & wear it are pensioners! I just feel weird and old now! (I am 'only' 33). I also don't like to shop in shops that older ladies are in like Wallis and the likes, I like some of their stuff but AIBU to be put off, am I the only one who feels like this? Maybe I am in denial of growing older myself...

No offence to anyone who is >60 or shops in Wallis!

....should I keep the top?

"To go with the cornish pasty shaped shoes! "

Provided I could get me wizened old feet into me farkin shoes in the first place. I fought them on the beaches, y'know!

(Creaks arthritically downstairs to put the kettle on and check where I left my pension book)

LoL at Fircones neice, thought I was 'cool' shopping in Fat Face!

BalloonSlayer · 10/09/2009 13:57

Hahaha, DH likes Fatface but in the past I would never look at the women's stuff as I felt too old.

Then I twigged, that although everything in the shop suggests it is for young sexy surfers, in fact it is totally for middle-aged, middle-class people who have never even been on a skateboard and whose idea of rebellion is letting their tomato soup come to the boil.

Now I have a FatFace dress.

Arf at tomato soup coming to the boil

Yes, I loved wandering round the new White Stuff in town feeling finally back in the style loop after a few years of maternity wear and bf'ing tops but then realised that the people around me were all well over 10 years older than I am (and I'm in my mid-thirties!)

MorrisZapp · 10/09/2009 13:59

I love Fat Face! Of course it's for women like me - why would I shop in a teenagers shop?

Also their sizing is v v flattering

SixtyFootDoll · 10/09/2009 15:00

Oh yes MZ I can get into a 10 in FF!!

YABU

the problem is not Boden or old people. The problem is that you are clearly drawn to items that old ladies like too. You are a style octegenarian. It doesn't matter where you shop you will find it impossible to resist the siren song of polyester and the heady mixture of an item which manages to be both practical and snazzy.Acrylic will make you weak at the knees and that tumble dry logo will seduce you with its whisper of practicality.

It is not bad. Embrace it. But save your money and go to BHS - they have those same items but much cheaper. And CC always have a good sale and are always placed conveniently close to the ladies loos if it all gets too exciting.
