we had a bad night with dd(3) last night , she had a temperature of 39.2 , an hour after giving her calpol her temp came down to 38.5 , i rang our gp this morning & was told that they could not see dd today & that it would be Monday before she could fit us in , i explained how sick dd is & that she is complaining of her ear being sore etc , again i was fobbed off & told to wait until after 6pm to call out an emergency doctor at this stage i asked if the doctor could just prescribe an antibiotic & i could drop down to pick it up , then all of a sudden she told me to bring dd down at 11am , when i got to the surgery there was only 1 person ahead of me in the waiting room . turns out dd has a very bad ear & throat infection & the doctor said i was right to take her to see him as her temperature is still very high ,

Well ours just asks if you need to be seen today'if you say yes you are seen that day-no questions at all from the receptionist. If you want to speak to a doctor they each have a time when you can talk on the phone. They are truly great.

My GP is wonderful - you phone up at 8.30 in the morning and they see you the same day - no questions - if i tell them its not urgent they usually see you the next day.

No rudeness, no silly comments they are very professional and very helpful - Im very lucky compared to some of my friends

you are lucky racmac , i dread the dc's getting sick as it is very difficult to get an appointment at our surgery , & it would be hard for us to change gp's as my dh is on a scheme in his job where they pay an amount out of their wages each week for gp visits & a gp is assigned to them , our surgery is great though as they have two doctors 1 of which is a pediatrician & a nurse , now all i need is physic powers so i an foresee in advance when ill need an appointment
