Sounds perfectly normal to me for a kid to be aware of something like that, esp if money is tight and the parent takes the approach of being open with the child about it.

Kathy and I explained to him the holiday would have to wait this year as we had his new uniform to buy and with it being a new school I couldn't use any of the old one lol.

People just have different attitudes to openness about that kind of thing with dcs. Just normal variation in parenting styles - there's not necessarily a right or wrong way to do it.

£40 a week is good! surely. well, compared to my ex's £5 a week for our 4...thats £1.25 each child,each week.....he told me he wont work and will remain on benefits as this means he wont have to pay child maintenence...nice eh!??

Oh and he doesn't have to pay rent as he moved in with his girlfriend who owns her own home, and has his ready made family....an 11 yr old son....well step son.
