in thinking that Kiddicare shouldn't be sponsoring Katie Price's new TV prog?

I've always thought of myself as a pretty liberal person but surely to god Kiddicare's marketing department have messed up big time sponsoring What Katie Did Next? Just seems a very strange partnership to me!

hmmm....yabvu.

SausageRocket · 29/08/2009 15:14

I saw that. Really odd.

But then there will be lots of orange tinted wannabe yummy mummies watching their idle idol, so actually, it's a pretty canny marketing exercise on Kiddicares part.

I agree. Up there with Iceland promoting Kerry Katona as a run-of-the-mill mum. Although they've now seen the light.

PussinJimmyChoos · 29/08/2009 15:25

YANBU - I don't think its a good idea either!

cupcakeandtea · 29/08/2009 15:36

Yeah, maybe you're right SausageRocket. Hadn't thought of that angle.

Why do you think that KP and Kiddicare is a strange partnership, please?

IUsedToBePeachy · 29/08/2009 16:13

I noticed that was Very Odd Indeed

I don't know why it felt that way- but it did. PArtly becuase the clips seemed as much aimed at littlies (all toys rather than designer buggies or what have you), but I don't know- just seemed wierd.

I don't doubt she's a great Mum behiond the scenes, have never seen reason to doubt it, though in absolute truth I wopuld have felt uncomfortable at best had my Mother been publicised in some of the ways KP seems to enjoy.

I don't think she's a bad person, but she does seem a little effed up atm and somehow I wouldn't think that links naturally with a baby product compant.

Hopefulyl she'll get through a rough time and settle down as I was starting to like her, fingers crossed

clam · 29/08/2009 16:22

OK, I'm going to stick my neck out here and say that a programme where she's getting pissed, making an exhibition of herself, swearing and being generally foul-mouthed on camera, flashing her tits at anyone who'll look (regardless of whether she's doing it to mask the fact she's supposed to be nursing a broken heart) doesn't square with what Kiddicare seem to be marketing. And before I get flamed by the "why shouldn't mums let their hair down" brigade, I wouldn't be impressed if I saw a bloke doing it either.

I don't happen to think she's a good role model for motherhood, not where Junior is concerned, anyway, although the only times I've ever seen flashes of real warmth and affection towards anyone from her is when she's dealing with Harvey.

I really started to like KP, but I think that was because 'Peeder' seemed like a nice bloke and I never watched the reality stuff. Turns out she's a rough slapper after all.

smokinaces · 29/08/2009 19:57

They were originally sponsoring Katie & Peter - maybe they signed a contract which has just been transferred to the new Katie single car crash programme?

agree, not good link IMO - but can see they will probably get a fair bit of business from the young pregnant watching.

Ronaldinhio · 29/08/2009 20:00

I think its a good idea as I'd never heard of kiddicare until the programme and then this thread

so it obviously worked

all slagging off of people we don't know aside....

Tidey · 29/08/2009 20:01

I accidentally referred to her new show as 'Who Katy Did Next' the other day, but then realised it was quite apt.

fandango75 · 29/08/2009 20:31

clam very funny and oh so true i must say. No one should be flashing their mimsy about the palce. She's an old slapper - big fat f*y i bet ha

groundhogs · 29/08/2009 21:09

lol, i also found myself thinking it odd, but only in the nanosecond as i punched in the numbers to another programme. I used to like her, but am disquietened by her antics of late.

Ok, so it's a free country, but i'd worry what my children would think of me if they saw me sprawled all over the papers with my knickers and tits on show.. Then again, with my figure, i'd be harpooned by kind strangers rather than shots taken by paps!

What really disturbs me much more, is the advertising on children's channels.. Wtf are ads for debt removal, personal injury insurance doing brainwashing our children? It's bad enough having the ads for toy after toy, but the clear your debt, or sue the arse off someone is quite frankly obscene..

Was in Asda the other day and Jordan's lingerie collection was being marked down to go in the sale. No surprise there. It seems her stock has crashed somewhat. Who on earth would aspire to emulate her the way she has been behaving lately.

DO NOT order from Kiddicare. Why do I say this? From my experience over the past couple of days:

  1. You can not cancel your order - even if it is a couple of hours after you have placed it and it has clearly not left the depot. The response they give you is, even though you don't want the item and it hasn't left their warehouse, they will deliver it to you anyway and then ask you to pay for it to be returned!!!
  2. It is very difficult to contact anyone in relation to your order
  • if you email them, you get an automated response stating that you will be replied to within 48 hours, but the answer will be something along the lines of 'sorry we can't help you'
  • if you call them, they are similarly unhelpful. The individual service people are nice enough but they are bound by the inflexible ordering system. It costs 10pence for every minute you are on the phone.
  • last resort - post a message on their 'community board', where again you either get no response or a similarly unhelpful message that redirects you to their email enquiry line.
3) If you live in a communal flat area and the gate is shut, they will not bother to ring you/message you before delivering your package. Instead, even if you are home waiting, you will get an automated text message saying that they failed to deliver your package. Also, they are supposed to leave a card with re-deliver options, but in my case, they didn't leave it! 4) If you call the call centre to complain, they tell you to wait around all day and the delivery man may come back to you - they do not specify a time. In my case, despite waiting all day, the delivery man has not come! So now, they've taken my money but I'm left without a pushchair, without a redeliver option, and have to contact them again to start the delivery/return/cancellation process all over again! It's not worth the £10 saving...go elsewhere!!!
