to think that wasps should be wiped out as a species as they seem to have no purpose but to annoy/sting kids?

I'm normally very ecological and all that stuff, but I confess that I would cheerfully sign the form dictating the destruction of wasps on a country wide scale. My DD has been stung twice this week by the vicious little blighters, and I've just had 3 down outside with even so much as a glass of water the damn creatures were swarming round us. Its driven us batty and spoiled the holiday! I'm afraid I see red everytime I see yellow and black................ well not literally, but I'm sure you get my drift.
I know I'm probably been totally unreasonable, and its really not the wasps' fault, but I'm just sick of the horrible things!

YANBU Kill them.I got stung on my finger last october by a wasp was so so painful. The amount that have landed on the ds's this year has been ridiculous.Luckily though they havent been stung but are both petrified of the things.

oldraver · 28/08/2009 19:53

I can still feel a sting I got two weeks ago. Ok I did roll over onto it, ds was wanting to dry me and ordered me to turn over . They plague the outdoor pool I go to and you are forever on the lookout for them everytime you move

dogofpoints · 28/08/2009 19:54

what a bummer re wasp-infested outdoor pool

dawntigga · 28/08/2009 21:46

JUX- that suntan lotion has not been recalled, I've just checked and even better news it's currently bogof!!
sweetnitanitro - try the suntan lotion i've suggested above, even if it's not that sunny, it's worth putting it on and it doesn't smell any different to normal lotion. (to us)

mortica · 28/08/2009 22:17

Im scared to death of them, my blood runs cold when i see one. Theres me running round screaming looking like a right tit whilst telling my dd's to stand still and they wont hurt them. Ive nearly crashed car before now when one flew in through window. Thankgod for aircon eh.

KILL THEM ALL. Mind you imnot goodwith insects either.

hellymelly · 28/08/2009 22:20

I also thought that suncream had been discontinued-I will check it out,I am allergic to the sting and petrified of being stung when I am alone with dds.At the moment I hardly go anywhere as I am so worried about getting stung.
by the way what we think of as wasps,eg the common wasp, does not lay eggs in anything other than its nest.It can also sting even when dead (spring loaded type sting)so lucky that the one in the gusset didn't get any closer!

gingerbunny · 28/08/2009 22:49

the lotion was still on sale today when i went to boots and it's still on the website tonight. Maybe it's a different one.

I hate the bloody things. I have been stung many a time(unprovoked)and also by a bee(OUCH!!that was hiddious) hate them. dc happily stand there next to them batting them away, whilst saying "silly mummys, scared of wasps, they wont hurt you" yeah right. dp says they wont sting if you stand still, yeah right.

I have one(I swear its the same individual) that flies into my kitchen between 8.30-9am flies around for a bit, flies out and comes back a few minutes later, then flies off again. have none in the kitchen for the rest of the day. swear its the same wasp

EyeballsintheSky · 28/08/2009 23:14

I was stung on the arse last week. Well, to be fair I did sit on it! But even so, they're evil little bastards.
