AIBU Play date taking the piss

baskingseals · 27/08/2009 20:54

I have a 14 day old new born, third child, the others are 7 and 2.
It is now ten to nine and the father of the play date child has just come to pick up his daughter.....he dropped her off at nine this morning.
Taking the piss or what!

poor kid as well

thisisyesterday · 27/08/2009 20:56

sorry, not implying that you are awful to be with all day or anything! but it's a long time to be away from home

jellyjelly · 27/08/2009 20:56

Yes maybe but what was agreed at the drop off?

theslightlypeckishcaterpillar · 27/08/2009 20:57

That's terrible. Did he apologise for not turning up till late? What was the arrangement?

LightningBolt · 27/08/2009 20:57

That is terrible!

traceybath · 27/08/2009 20:57

Blimey - thats utterly outraegous. Did you say anything when he turned up?

Sagacious · 27/08/2009 20:57

Thats not a playdate !
Thats childcare.

bigchris · 27/08/2009 20:58

jeeeeesus!

didnt you organise a picking up time?

LoveMyGirls · 27/08/2009 20:58

Cheeky!

baskingseals · 27/08/2009 20:58

The arrangement was very vague, and i kinda knew what would happen BUT ye gods!

OP posts:
Littlefish · 27/08/2009 20:58

What time was she supposed to be picked up?

thisisyesterday · 27/08/2009 20:59

basking, does ds have a name yet???

baskingseals · 27/08/2009 21:03

No and my friend who made me put this thread on as she is hopping mad on my behalf (i'm used to this particular playdate and there is a loooong back story)

On the plus side kids have played out of the way all day.

TheCrackFox · 27/08/2009 21:04

What a flaming cheek.

There is no way I would have this child round to play again.

lyraSilvertongue · 27/08/2009 21:32

How does a play date end up lasting 12 hours? What was his excuse?

tinkerbellesmuse · 27/08/2009 22:05

def taking piss.

I'd be furious.

In fact I'd have phoned him at 7 to say where the hell was he cos my own kids were hoing to bed.

And with a nb I'd have been phoning an hour later to say I was going to bed.

DesperateHousewifeToo · 27/08/2009 22:07

I'm speechless!

lolapoppins · 27/08/2009 22:07

Are you going to send him a bill? Whats the going CM rate?

zanz1bar · 28/08/2009 21:38

Unbelievable, truly unbelievable.
I say again and again truly unbelievable.

baskingseals you have the patience of an angel, you should have let me at him.

And your baby is gorgeous!

TessOfTheDinnerBells · 28/08/2009 22:18

So is he going to recipricate? Maybe print off a list of local childminders and suggest he checks them out....

BubbaAndBump · 28/08/2009 22:35

At the risk of repeating above posts - WTF??!! I'd be going mental, and that's without a 14day old!! Please tell us he apologised profusely and had some fantastic excuse?

CitrusZest · 28/08/2009 22:40

OMG!

CitrusZest · 28/08/2009 22:40

Dying to hear the long back story!

baskingseals · 29/08/2009 14:06

I used to live with her mum, CitrusZest, back in the day when we were both single mums, now more outwardly respectable (just don't look too deeply), and we are both v different. Tbh, I think she definitely has quite a few issues (the mum). Dd absolutely adores this child, and it has sometimes been very difficult to get them together which has been tricky to explain to dd. I think they truly love each other. So when I do finally get hold of dd's little friend, I'm so grateful they've got the chance to see each other, I don't really mind how long she stays.

OP posts:
MatthewBellamysMuse · 29/08/2009 21:35

But what was his excuse for leaving her with you so long?
