not unreasonable at all. everyone is desperate for school to start again, even the kids.....

(i'm with you 100% on this)

BonsoirAnna · 24/08/2009 15:19

Thanks

Phew. I need to let off steam on this one!

I totally understand! My girls are driving me crazy. Only one more week to go for us!

TheFallenMadonna · 24/08/2009 15:24

Ours isn't so long (although as a teacher I would love a nine week holiday!), but I am sending DC off to my mum on Wednesday, and we are all looking forward to it very much. Apart from the lesson planning I shall have to do

orangina · 24/08/2009 15:26

I have just been chatting to dh about how much I would like 3-5 days to myself (no kids, no dh) at home. I would LOVE to get my life in order without having to take ANYONE ELSE'S needs into consideration.

Me me me me me me me

And a lovely tidy ordered house.

(sigh)

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 24/08/2009 15:29

I have had no children since about 10 this morning and mot of the time has been spent doing cleaning, laundry, tidying, ordering stuff needed for school and stressing about the state of the house.

orangina · 24/08/2009 15:30

I don't even want to go clothes shopping (though I do fancy a trip to the hairdressers). It's all about Getting My House In Order.

It's a bit desperate.

ThePregnantPhantomPlopper · 24/08/2009 15:34

YANBU - The next two weeks are going to draaaag.

BonsoirAnna · 24/08/2009 15:36

I've actually fitted in quite a lot of major decluttering this summer and the house isn't too untidy - though it is grubbier than I would like . I think I need to get the spring cleaners in and for me to spend a day at the spa

I am the omly person who doesn't want them to go back I think

One of the benefits of being a SAHM I guess, no panicking over holiday childcare, I do get it easy on that front

I will miss them though (they're back 3rd and 4th)

TheDMshouldbeRivened · 24/08/2009 15:49

I'm happy for the boys to stay home but dd2 is bored and we couldn't gt respite carers for every day and I'm knackered.

MaggieLeo · 24/08/2009 15:51

Yeah I hear you! mine have been off since the end of June. Back next Tuesday though!

Hallelujah it's good for them to be stimulated...

I am lucky to work in a school and am not looking forward to going back. I have done major decluttering these hols as well. The dcs are older and look after themselves so it has been lovely to get on with things. None of us are looking forward to going back.

LuvLee · 24/08/2009 16:32

O, I dunno. I'm a contractor, and work a 40 hr week, so have only been able to afford to take one measley week off work during the whole summer holidays. I'd LOVE to be able to spend more time with the kids.

IOnlyReadtheDailyMailinCafes · 24/08/2009 16:37

I dont want the holidays to end, am excited about going back to work ( am a teacher) but love the holidays, I get to be a proper mum.

sherby · 24/08/2009 16:37

I have 7 yes 7 weeks left, so if anybody should be getting any sympathy it is me

DD and DS are ready to kill each other and I have had it with trying to think of things to do everyday

IOnlyReadtheDailyMailinCafes · 24/08/2009 16:38

How do you have 7 weeks left?

sherby · 24/08/2009 16:42

argh DD is summer born going into reception and they don't take her until 12 October

so she will have been off since end of July!

can't send her to school early because they won't take her, can only send her back to playschool if we pay stupid money and she goes for the whole term

castille · 24/08/2009 17:13

Oh YES, is my instinctive response. One week and two days left

BUT the early starts, school runs, complicated evenings and strict timetabling of every weekday

BonsoirAnna · 24/08/2009 17:15

Oh I know, our timetable (DSSs coming and going on a fortnightly timetable) is hideous.

Am secretly hoping the DSSs no longer have 8am starts on the mornings they are with us so that DP can take DD to school sometimes...

OP posts:
castille · 24/08/2009 17:20

Oh yes, that's another thing - DD1 starts at 8.10am every day this year. Fortunately she'll be getting the bus, but I'll still have to get up and ensure she's at the bus stop for 7.20

mummydoc · 24/08/2009 17:37

2 weeks tomorrow , cannot wait, even though i work full time i am now dealing with:

over tired 9 1/2 year old who basically has ahd toomany late nights " ahh well it's the holidays" say i at 8 pm as by then have had 2-3 glasses of medicinal vino.

very bored and lacking in any structure nearly 5 year old thus making her extreamly rude/defiant prone to hysterical tears about everything

a fed up and exhausted nanny

a dh who has taken to going to the pub after work to avoid putting kids to bed

i fear we have lost one of our new kittens in the debris that is the playrooom....

Fairynufff · 24/08/2009 17:50

YANBU BonsoirAnna - I'm feeling exactly the same. I keep trying to repeat the old lady's mantra in my head "enjoy them when they're young - enjoy them when they're young..." but they get soooo bloody irritating when they're constantly bored, hungry, not bored but making a mess etc. I dreamt last night I'd left home and divorced my husband because of it! It's obviously getting to me....
