...to want to wail 'it's not FAIR'? (a whinge)

DP's parents have a tiny flat that they rent out to people for holidays, we found out that it's free for a week in September.

Trying to work out if we could afford to go, we looked up flights and found there were some very cheap ones. It's a slightly in the middle of nowhere so there isn't a choice of airlines/departure airports.

Skip to today: DP had asked his boss about getting time off (a bit of a formality really, he doesn't have the sort of job where a certain number of people have to be there all the time, and he hasn't taken any holiday for ages), and now the flights are £110 more expensive.

It's not fair.

Now I can't decide if we should go or not. I wish we hadn't looked before, and we could just make the decision based on the cost that it is now, withut knowing that it woud have been £110 cheaper if we had booked last night.

Yeah, Trillian, Manchester would be a bit of a hike for you!

Yes, you are right abour Ryanair. As long as you accept they are what they are you can put up with them for a relatively short flight. And if no-one else does the route you need it is a no-brainer. Wouldn't fancy going long haul with them though (not sure if they do that anyway).

That was why we flew with them from Liverpool - needed to get from MILs house to my parents in Spain, and they were the only airline that flew that route.

Get your running shoes ready though!

ryanair are fantastic. there i said it.

YorkshireRose · 25/08/2009 12:33

Yes, Mayor, travel with Ryanair, who needs the gym?!

mayorquimby · 25/08/2009 12:39

i'm sorry i just love them. they're fantastic. and it annoys me when people feel that any mention of ryanair or travelling with them has to be accompanied by some sort of justification they're the only ones who fly there/i normally wouldn't dream of flying with them but.../ or any complaint about "Hidden fees" which the person agrees to before they pay for their flight.
if you don't like them don't travel with them. you know exactly what your getting and all the terms are laid out for you before you pay for your ticket.
you know your bag can only be 15 k and after that you get charged a bucket load for every kilo. s don't turn up with a bag heavier than 15 kg and look shocked when you get charged.

plus sir/lord/superman michael o'leary is king.

Complaints about bad customer service - fair enough if they've treated you badly.

Complaints about 'hidden' costs - just pay better attention. They're not very hidden. Compare it to what you'd have to pay on another airline and then make your choice. Of course you're not really going ot fly somewhere for £1.

I feel your pain. PIL have a flat on the IoW which we love and use a lot. But the ferry is extortionate this time of year so I resent paying £££ when we could have a 10 day holiday for £50 any other time.

You'll have a great time though and once you're sunning yourself you won't even remember the £110

I'll fly with whoever is cheapest and flies from where I am to where I want to be.

At the moment that isn't Ryanair.

But if they fit the bill I would use them again.

However, if there was nothing much to choose from between 2 airlines on price and route I would probably go with the other airline as I found their customer service worse than other budget airlines. Though to be fair have only used them a couple of times.
