Poncey deli has opened nearby and it's selling live lobster

FGS. It's a lovely shopping street and there are some really nice shops along there. Some are getting a bit bunting cupcake though and this deli is particularly so.

I rather think there's no need for it. The live lobster. The staff in silly poncey uniforms. The "trying to hard to be twee" decor and all that Farrow & Ball green paint. You know the shade.

Grumble, grumble...

Wiki says whitebait are young herring. Don't know if sprats are elderly herring though

Don't sweat it LToS, embrace your Pescetarianism!

LovelyTinOfSpam · 22/08/2009 22:44

Ah well hugh f-w reckons that whitebait have been mislabelled for years due to confusion, and they are actually just a mish mash of baby fishies. Good enough for me. And anyway you can't get it any more round here

Thanks ninks, not sure I'm a pescatarian though. What with all the steak and offal and all... !

SomeGuy · 22/08/2009 22:55

Perhaps the lobster could perform a quadrille with the whitebait?

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 22/08/2009 23:05

LOL Believe me, SG, it was so pretentious in there I'm surprised they didn't.

YABU.

I have it on good authority that all supermarkets sell Marmite and despite a hearty protest nobody ever seems to take my plight seriously.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 23/08/2009 16:28

Skihorse, what you on about?

OP posts:
pofacedandproud · 23/08/2009 16:32

Arf at the straw boaters. I pity the employees.
Think of it this way, Kirsty and Phil will be in there soon, telling us all that your town is in the top ten for 'quality of life' or something. Bet Kirsty buys live lobster.

kathyis6incheshigh · 23/08/2009 16:34

It's a bugger about the whitebait Lovelytin, they're one of the few foods my incredibly fussy ds will eat.

skihorse · 23/08/2009 17:24

MaryCheese I am just trying to spread the word about Marmite. I don't approve of it being sold everywhere because I do not believe it should be eaten. I'm just spreading the word and one day, mark my words, one day Waitrose will say "NO!" to yeast based products.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 23/08/2009 19:39

Roffle

However, I do believe Waitrose would say "No thank you" as it's much more polite. Their staff are very well trained you know.

ah, mary. I recognise the street you are talking about. I bought some poncey chutney and award winning cheese from there yesterday and felt all middle class (then walked to the downmarket end, popped into HomeBargins and bought 25 toilet rolls for a £1)

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 23/08/2009 20:06

Maggie

I hope they stay open, it does need a deli there. I just hope they calm down a bit. The babyclothes shops across the road make a bit too. [cynic]

Mary are you able to give an approximation of where this deli is 'cos I knows which city from a previous thread.

izyboy · 23/08/2009 20:11

If I say Albany pub is the local would I be correct?

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 23/08/2009 20:13

Only if you can assure me you're a person who doesn't buy poncey lobster

Wellfield Road innit.

izyboy · 23/08/2009 20:15

Ah yes that would make sense, I'll check it out, not keen on lobster tho'.

maggiemoon · 23/08/2009 20:15

oh, i hate that designer kiddies clothes shop which sells DKNY bottles and outfits for £90 etc. also suprised at the new babyshop that opened on the back of the organic, hippy type place closing down. Yes, id give that new one about 6 months.

I do like the fact that the gift shop has turned into a cute cafe / sweet shop though.

but ANNOYING about tescos extra.

I haven't read the whole thread but I thought you were supposed to buy live lobsters and cook them live.
