To be annoyed by family tickets pricing structure

Very many places we go out to have a family price which includes 2 adults/2 children or 1 adult 4 children
If you then take 5,6,7 people you are xpected to pay full price for the additional child.This means you are paying more per person than if you take just 4.

We've been to some places with extra people, where we have split our party and described ourselves as two families. We've been in the situation of paying the adult price for a teenager (who could have got in on child price) so that she could be the 'parent' and get another family ticket, and also doing the same with a grandparent who could have got in free as a Senior Citizen.

But yes, I do find it annoying! We have 3dc, the youngest is still usually free, but from next year we will be in that position most times we go out as an individual family.

Why can't places just decide upon the amount of discount they are going to offer on the standard ticket prices for groups of 'families' and then apply it accordingly to however many adults/children are in each particular party.

They could still have a ruling that a 'family' must consist of 3 or more people, one of which MUST be an adult and one of which must be a child - or something like that.

That way every possible conitation of 'family' has it's entrance price which is still a slightly cheaper way of them gaining entrance, yet also 'fair' for the place they are gaining entrance to.

Skyblu...if they did that I would join up with mrs and mrs random and their 8 kids x4 at the gate and we would all get in together on 1 ticket LOL

I like places that say family of 5 (max 2 adults) rather than those that specify 2 adults and 2 children etc.

our family is now 3 adults and 3 children (if we con the 16yr old in as a child). Don't realy feel much better knowing that the 18yr old and 16 yr old still want to come out with the crumblys and brats! Some places are just too expensive to even think about!

Am I being thick? We have an additional child so we pay one extra child price. It still works out cheaper than individual prices. I can't see the problem.

I have seen several places in the last few years that have various family combos including 2+2, 2+3, 1+ up to 3 children....etc

also several places now do one child free per adult

Don't even get me started on this as we are a family of 5 too and come across this a lot.

But I did tear my hair out one day in July when only 4 of us (taking my 3DCs to a theme park in July, without my DH) I was told that the family ticket only applied to 2 adults and 2 kids, and that 1 adult and 3 kids did not qualify for a family ticket. I did try to point out the flaw in the logic, but was met by "yeah, whatever". So I had to pay more per person even though there was only 1 adult (does that make sense?)

You're still getting the family discount.
