They arent even brilliantly written however, I cant stop reading them - its soooo sad! My DH keeps laughing at me calling me a sad teenager. The other day I finished the first book and then watched the movie for the first time straight after!....

Frosty - I'm just going to say THE NAME (not going into any more detail due to spoilers)

Liked Edward in the first book, until another MNer pointed out that he was actually incredibly controlling and stalkery and I realised she was right.

Your description of their conversations made me snigger, BTW. So true...

Oooh I LOVE these books!

I had never heard of them until a month ago and a friend lent them to me - I read them all in 2 weeks and was gutted to finish them....and I'm 34....very sad. I haven't seen the film yet but am tracking it down to watch

Despite Edward being essentially being a bit of a stalker, I am on his team.

However, I would have like Bella to have had it off with Jacob tho - know what you mean about him being all man )

God I need to get a life!

I managed to tolerate the first book and saw the film the other day. I was pissing myself laughing at the running through the forest bit. I had imagined they'd use better special effects than that!

Anyway, I had decided to just content myself with reading the plot summaries on Wiki but I'm now intrigued about just how awful the fourth one is...

MamaGoblin · 10/08/2009 22:26

Yes, YABU!

Terrible, terrible books. (yes, I have read them all. ) Am horrified that this is what girls in their teens are reading at the moment - appalling, misogynistic view of sex and sexuality. Edward is also so absurdly paragon-like that no RL boyfriend is ever going to measure up. Plus, who wants to snog cold, unyielding marble?

The film was actually quite sweet...

sunfleurs · 10/08/2009 22:31

lol at your conversation between Edward and Bella stayfrosty.

Hi there!

Oh, I know how you feel! Twilight...turning us all (back) into idiot self-absorbed teenagers.

Been there, done that, fallen briefly for Edward, wondered what was wrong with me. Fortunately there are many Twilight recovery sites out there, which will get you out the other side. I especially recommend this one:

cleoland.pbworks.com/Twilight

...and I love this one so much that I actually have a tribute t-shirt.

oxymoronassoc.livejournal.com/462027.html#cutid1

Before all the Twilight Mums kill me - I do, do, do genuinely adore Twilight. It has brought me hours and hours of joy, first reading it voraciously, and then laughing myself sick when its more gaping plot-holes were pointed out to me. (I especially enjoyed the thought of Bella's wedding-night. Must have been like getting it on with a marble rolling-pin.)

Don't ever feel ashamed. You're in good company!

teamcullen · 10/08/2009 23:27

Look I know Edward is abit of a stalker

and hes cold

and he obsessive

and he tends to freak out and over react

BUT.. he can bite me any day

Much better than going to bed with a Dog. What would Jacob do? Lick you!

Boobalina · 11/08/2009 14:32

Sounds like a plan to me

Ladylou83 · 11/08/2009 18:57

OMG...I thought I was so sad reading the Twilight series at 26, but now I realise I am perfectly (well maybe not) normal!

I love them, I agree, they are not the most well written books, but I couldnt put them down. DH has just read them as well, he was hooked. I prefere the books to the film, because u get the background, but my oh my, I do love watching the film. Rob patterson, very fit. He can some and be my stalker vampire any day.

True blood: Love it, just dont tell DH

superduperminder · 11/08/2009 20:24

DH has got me a copy of the film today - I am bit too excited!!! RP here I come!

juneybean · 12/08/2009 13:18

ROFL did you watch it? Did you enjoy it?

superduperminder · 12/08/2009 13:26

It was pretty naff, especially the hilarious special effects of Edward running through the forest with Bella hanging off his back....but damn he's hot!!!

Wonder if he likes (much, much) older women??!

Housemum · 03/09/2009 13:45

DD1 and I have the Edward/Jacob argument a lot - she just says that Edward's a bum for leaving her and obviously a bit thick if he didn't realise how much it would hurt and that she would not get over it. But there's SOMETHING about him (although the nice warm wolf sounds cosy if a bit dog-breathy)

ErikaMaye · 03/09/2009 13:48

Pssst...

My DP is addicted to them

SpawnChorus · 03/09/2009 13:51

The problem is that you're kept dangling with the promise of SEX and it doesn't really happen. I wanted hardcore pornographic details of vampire sex and it was just TOO LAME. I felt cheated...and dirty....and juvenile.

Housemum · 03/09/2009 13:55

but did it leave you feeling horny?

roonlilahsmama · 04/09/2009 17:25

i loooove twilight OH never seen me for a week as was busy reading all 4 books in a row, never seen the attraction of r-patz until i read the books and seen the film and am ashamed to admit that i a 26 year old mother of two has turned into an official r-patz stalker and will read anything to do with him online i would sooo do edward and then jacob so he doesn't get left out maybe together lol

Tambajam · 04/09/2009 17:45

I am also addicted. Movie and books. I am pathetically excited about Midnight Sun. I had to drag myself away from buying some badges at Borders the other day. I couldn't think what a 37yr old mum of 2 would do with some Twilight badges but I was willing to give it a shot.

Boobalina · 04/09/2009 17:47

You must watch True Blood on FX channel (will be on C4 later in year) - amazing anbd pisses all over Twlight!
