to think that they should feed my dc

I know that I am lucky that someone can have my dc (10 & 7) whilst I am at work but,

Am I being unreasonable to think that two children need more than 2 slices of toast and a yogurt between 8am and 4pm (they CHOSE to have them for longer, they didn't have to)

They came home and they were both ravenous and bad tempered/gumpy etc.

Sorry but, your kids, your responsibility - if it is such an issue make then have breakfast before they leave your house in the morning and do not forget to make them a pack lunch.

Do not though, not pack them anything because you 'forgot', if something is such an issue you do not forget to do it, it is at the forefront of your mind.

And

Maybe they are unaware of your mealtimes too and what the kids actually eat and when, why don't you tell them, not in a nasty manner implying that they have done wrong, but just an explanatry way.

Bloody hell and reading more - you knew they didn't have enough yesterday and yet you are not doing anything about it before they went there today!

"i forgot" that your kid's are going to be starving all day??? your poor kid's i certainly would not let them go, or for god's sake say somthing.

BarkisIsWilling · 04/08/2009 15:19

Get the kids to help plan and pack stuff to eat at your relatives'.

Buy cereal and milk and leave it there and explain that you need to do this as they don't always have time to eat in the morning.

Also, what DandyLioness & ZZZenAgain said.

Best wishes.

Toast and a yoghurt are absolutely fine as a light lunch, your relatives probably assumed the kids already ate breakfast and would be eating a big dinner later on.

Also agree that 10 & 7 is quite old enough to voice a request for more food. My dd manages it and she is only 4.

"Bloody hell and reading more - you knew they didn't have enough yesterday and yet you are not doing anything about it before they went there today!"

I thought that was bizarre too.

It is all sorted now.

I had a word, and though they are not happy with me it's out in the open.

I have done some shopping and left it at theirs and also made packed lunches, though dc came back yesterday with packed lunches untouched as they had been cooked a large meal etc.

Hopefully it is all sorted for good now.
