We were at the swimming pool earlier and a young girl of about 12 cut her foot , at the swimming pool.I have no idea ,and can't imagine what on.It was bleeding heavily and she was helped out of the water and round to the side of the pool to a chair where the first aider dealt with it.She had obviously left quite a trail of blood round the pool and where she was sitting on the poolside.
I was expecting an OTT ultra cautious clean up operation. But the guy just got buckets full of water .Emptied over the blood and brushed it all back in.
Surely this can't be right ?

I'd have expected a proper clean-up, not just swilling it back into the pool - partly for pr reasons (I expect plenty of others thought the same as katie), and partly because of my training as a nurse - spillages of blood had to be properly dealt with.

On a practical level, I suppose the chlorine will deal with the issue.

yes spillage in another environment calls for appropriate claening

but tbh chlorine has the sanitising effect that haz tablets would

Practically, I'm sure you're right, scottishmummy - but a proper clean-up would have looked better, if you see what I mean.

scottishmummy · 28/07/2009 16:23

yes i agree!a clean rather than swish and slop into the pool
