To think that i actually have the bestest dog in the whole wide world

(well, on par with his two predecessors (sp))

My little border terrier x, is a real runty looking thing, looks like a skinny jack russel with too long legs. But Christ on a bike, i love that dog!

He is currently sat next to me quivvering because he heard a clap of thunder. He has the patience of a saint - my DD loves him to distraction and has some rather full on ways of showing it. Never a growl, never a curled lip - which for a terrier aint half bad! He properly loves me - he follows me up to the toilet just so he can sneak a cuddle all to himself.

Yesterday he escaped amid manic b'day party decorations - he took himself round to my mums for a bit of peace and quiet and just sat on her doorstep until she came to the door on her way to mine, he walked in and sat down!

I love the way he sits in the window waiting for us, he often sits there waiting for DP, who always says he is a runty rat dog, but i often catching him being really soft with him.

My DP bought him for me after we lost our last dog and i was suffering from depression, he certainly is my furry therapist.

Thats all i have to say about that.

Her hearing is spot-on, especially when you say sausage!
Being white, she was the biggest of her litter, she has the nicest bone structure/head wrinkles of the litter which annoyed her breader no end as a white dog can't be a show dog. But at least they didn't drown her like lots of breaders do with their whites.
Eyes are also a problem with some white animals. Her illness before was an eye issue. Thank the lordy for pet insurance!

hijack away curry, i love to hear about other peoples dogs. I used to be a vet nurse and i got to meet so many gorgeous hounds. I am never sick of hearing about dogs. I have been privaliged to witness the positive affects they have on us mere humans.

CurryMaid · 24/07/2009 21:41

That's brilliant her hearig is fine, sorry about her eyes.

I love the white ones, so unusual - our dog came from a rescue she's been abused think the breeder had just given her to the nearest idiot who showed an interest.

Goober · 24/07/2009 21:42

Anyhoo, My dog is undoubtably the greatest. So there.

ingles2 · 24/07/2009 21:53

you must have missed my post! my dog is definitely the greatest

Hormonesnomore · 24/07/2009 22:07

Wish we could have a dog but DS is allergic to them .

If he ever When he leaves home, we will have one or two.

If anyone can recommend a breed that is good natured, needs very little exercise & doesn't poo all over the place (will need to get my head round poop scooping before I get one), I'd be very grateful.

PrammyMammy · 24/07/2009 22:31

Aww it is great to see a pro-dog thread.
Your dog sounds lovely.
My dog follows me to the toilet too, she must think i am going to climb out the window or something. She's still the best though (of course) pic on pro :D.

lottiejenkins · 24/07/2009 22:39

My mum used to breed Border Terriers! I love them!!

Lovesdogsandcats · 24/07/2009 22:43

Ingles, and you must have missed my post because as I said, mine are the best

othersideofthefence · 24/07/2009 22:44

Yur dog sounds lovely, tho I'm convinced that mine are the best!

LaurieFairyCake · 24/07/2009 22:48

when dd moved in (foster child) our beautiful springer left our bedroom the first few nights to lie outside her room

she would wake up scared during the night and let him in

imaynotbeperfectbutimokmummy · 24/07/2009 22:58

Hormones, go for a rescue greyhound, they actually need very little exercise and have such great temprements, they are always needing a loving home. As for the poo, well, they all poo im afraid You can buy poo pickers that mean you dont have to experience the warm hand through the plastic bag feeling - although its not so bad in winter!

Hurray for a nice doggy thread. thanks imaynotbe

well MY Atticus is the lovliest doggy ever. He is so pretty and has a pink nose and blue eyes. Him and DS3 think they are litter mates and do the cutest things together. As described several times on MN they ride in the buggy together. Awwww.

He DID eat one of my shoes however so not very happy about that. But felt quite proud he managed it as shoe was almost as big as him.

He is the star of the training club and they all love him!

AND he caught a mouse a few weeks back. I cant get a decent pic of him (anyone else have that prob). They never show him at his best and his eyes always go red which make him look a bit evil.

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 24/07/2009 23:01

Another vote for BTs being the best dogs ever!
Mine follows me to the loo but I think it's part of her stalking campaign - she doesn't let me out of her sight until I've walked her.

hatwoman · 24/07/2009 23:08

dogs rock. my boy is about 14 months now and - even though I grew up with dogs - I'm utterly bowled over by the sheer amount of love you can feel for an animal. I spent the first two months of having him seranading him with "Can't take my eyes off of you...you're just to good to be true...." and various other cheesey love songs. they are steady, unshakeable, always your friend, always there, always ready for cuddles, always up for games. they're just amazing.

puffylovett · 24/07/2009 23:19

well I'm sorry, but you're ALL being VVVVV U as obviously I have the bestest dog.

My black spaniel, curled up on the sofa next to me twitching and snoring. Puts up with soooo much from DS and nephew. Not exercised enough. Barks like a guarding loon, at all and sundry. But still, she is my 'firstborn' and I love her tons.

hunniesugarplum · 25/07/2009 12:28

my lil springy spaniel may be advanced in years but he is the truest pal, sweet little menace. he eats apples!! and he walks into things... and he does all sorts of tricks. plus he is my staunch defender from the masses!! and he is a softie i heart him xx

lottiejenkins · 25/07/2009 13:16

My Mums bt used to do something quite odd... If you sat up at the table with your legs crossed Badger(bt) used to stand over your foot which was in the air so he knew you were still there!!

GirlsAreLoud · 25/07/2009 13:22

My dog is a habitual foot sitter too lottie. I think it's so you can't sneak off without them noticing.

newpup · 25/07/2009 13:36

My girl is the best dog in the world!

I love her - labs rule!

puffylovett · 25/07/2009 15:53

if i cross my legs like that under the table, they get humped

imaynotbeperfectbutimokmummy · 25/07/2009 18:20

our old rottie (who was a rescue and a bit of a nutter) would sit himself under our legs - got help us if we dared move
