to photograph all my shoes and stick the pictures on the outsides of the boxes?

Or do I have a problem (quite aside from my shoe buying one, of course)?

So how come you have only got two hats?

WesternBelle · 23/07/2009 21:49

I can go one better .

I have bought clear shoeboxes fromhere, they are brilliant as you not only can you see exactly what you have, they match each other for complete satifaction are all the same size so neatly stack.

letsblowthistacostand · 24/07/2009 01:18

I'm just trying to imagine a world where you have time to sit around photographing your shoes. [confused emoticon]

lambanana · 24/07/2009 10:48

I would do it but i just can't be arsed havent got round to it yet.

All my shoes are in boxes otherwise they would just get covered in dust.

I haven't got hundreds but I have a fair few pairs collected lovingly over the years.

I suppose some people might think it's a bit Anthea Turner but I would go for it.

JohnnyTwoHats · 25/07/2009 21:53

Ah but my linen closet is also Anthea-ised. So
Ah, they're just jealous...

A linen closet?

Is that a wardrobe?

JohnnyTwoHats · 25/07/2009 22:00

No, you know, where I keep the sheets and towels etc.

Mybox · 25/07/2009 22:01

If I was to think of doing this I would instead write a description on the box of the shoe and what it goes with.

Overmydeadbody · 25/07/2009 22:01

It is anal.

But if you have that many shoes, it probably makes aense.

I have five pairs of shoes. It would be pointless for me.

Katisha · 25/07/2009 22:02

Ah right.

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 25/07/2009 22:02

I'm no Anthea Turner, but I have clear boxes from Dunelm Mill stacked in the wardrobe - 'best' and out of season shoes are in here to keep the dust off, the ones I wear daily are in the hall or in the basket by the back door.
No need for photos when you can see inside.

Ninive · 26/07/2009 02:05

Oh works with people with autism, and they use pictograms to get things done. After living with our clothes all over the place for several years, we have finally bought a wardrobe. I have now drawn nice clear pictures (socks, t-shirts, trousers etc.) on cardboard and stuck them on the shelves. Now there's at least one place in the flat oh can't get out of tidying because he "doesn't know where stuff belong"

I don't keep my shoes in boxes, though, I have bought shelves and just stand them up side by side. But then I haven't got 50 pairs either

kitkatqueen · 26/07/2009 02:19

I'm lazy - and cheap - I would have cut a hole in the front of the box so I could see the actual shoe...

SamsungTsnumai · 26/07/2009 02:50

Instead of going to all the effort of photographing various shoes and then sticking the onto the boxes surely why not just take the lid off

stuffitlllama · 26/07/2009 06:01

what a fantastic idea

how long did it take?

JohnnyTwoHats · 27/07/2009 19:58

Taking the lid off would work if I had less shoes , as it is they are all stacked up in the boxes. I wish i had the clear boxes, they would look much better and they would all be same size (OCD tendencies...moi?)but can't really justify them atm.

it didn't take long really, just snapped each pair and printed out.

I do like how pretty they look in rows with pics on the boxes too. A bit like when we had the kitchen done and I got my 'spice drawer' which I kept whipping open to show people with all its neatly lined up containers like an IKEA catalogue.

YANBU - I did this many years ago, when I was single and had lots of shoes .

And since this was a very long time ago, it involved a roll of film and taking it to Boots to be processed. God only knows what went through their minds.

StealthPolarBear · 30/07/2009 05:03

there will be pervy shoe / foot fetishists reading this thread and drooling!
Me - I have insomnia

JohnnyTwoHats · 30/07/2009 10:26

lol- glad I didn't post any pics of them then!

OMG - it seems at last someone is as potty as me - I have also done the same thing - it helps especially if you have nire than one pair in a box for example sandals.

Here are some other things for people to laugh at - they are weird but do not hurt anyone.

I will also let you in on a couple of other guitly secrets - I too iron all the bedclothes and the shame of it my t-shirt and knicker draws are organised into colours, my wardrobe is sorted into blouses, skirts, trousers dresses jackets etc.

And for the final OCD type issue when I hang washing out I have to have matching coloured pegs on an item.

JohnnyTwoHats · 30/07/2009 16:38

My wardrobe is sorted into dresses, skirts, different types of tops etc too. It just makes sense! Then if you want to, say, wear a skirt one day, or trousers, you can immediately see what is available.
