to be upset by my HV making comments about my heavy but healthy 7mth DS?

just saw her for routine weigh in this morning and my DS (who has always been big) was a chunky 24lbs 6oz, which for 32 weeks makes him almost 100th centile.
she's seen us since he was born and has always said to me 'don't worry he's got a very big frame to fill', and he is very tall so i've always accepted that explanation.

but today, she looked over her glasses at me and said 'oh dear', how much milk is he having these days? i think we need to look at this or he'll be off the charts.'
i think she was expecting me to say that i lace his milk with lard...duh, is that not right?!
for the record, he has 3 8oz bottles a day, 3 meals a day - sometimes mush, sometimes finger food - and water in between. he doesn't have and will never have junky crappy fatty food from me.

i guess i just needed to vent because, as a health and weight conscious person, i was upset by the intimation that im causing his bulk.
am i being unreasonable to have got in the front door and sworn my tits off at her repeatedly?

I really wouldn't worry. HV's tend to have a bit of a fixation on weight. In fact I don't know anybody who has a dc who has stayed on the 50th centile?? My HV currently worrying about dd2 as she has dropped from 90th to 9th centile and was not gaining. She has restricted diet due to allergies but at 10mo she has 3 x 8oz bottles and 3 meals, 2 puddings and snacks. The HV is being helpful but if I can't face yet another conversation about weight gain (or lack of) I just don't weigh her..

My HV used to say exactly the same about DD and I used to worry like mad. Don't worry about it, they do seem to live by the charts and my DD is a complete dish.

My DS had 3x 8oz bottles plus food at that age. He stopped finishing them so I dropped it to 7, 6 then 5oz 3x and he's been on that for a while (10mo). He's also quite big (24lb at 9mo) but she asked me what he eats and said it's fine. He also has three meals a day with fruit after lunch, nothing else. I prepare dinners myself and although I always add olive oil/cheese to make sure he gets good fat they are healthy meals. If you can say the same then don't worry!

YANBU, you clearly watch what you are doing with him, and as others have said, once he is moving he will change. My DS1, now a gorgeous babe magnet of 18 was extremely heavy at 7 months, got meningococcal meningitis at 9 months and the only reason he didn't sustain multiple organ failure and die was that he could afford to lose 5lb of body weight in a couple of days!!!!
