Just seen in paper that the killer of ~Jason Swift is out and living in our town. He is pictured sitting near my son's dance school where lots of young boys come and go unaccompanied.

I want to show the staff and parents in there his picture, Will i get into trouble if I do?

Having said that, not sure if I care really, it's scared me.

Maybe more of a what would you do?

MP, your link made my computer crash

ScoopDeMerde · 14/07/2009 20:55

I am sure that sidney cooke has been out of jail since jason swift murder.

FAQinglovely · 14/07/2009 20:56

mp - I was also going to post that apparently the only one remaining still alive is supposedly still in prison.

FAQinglovely · 14/07/2009 20:56

Scoop- yes he was let out in mid/late 1990's - but then rejailed for life.

morningpaper · 14/07/2009 20:58

Hmmmm

Apparently there was one who has been let out

Rhubarb · 14/07/2009 20:59

so it appears that he is now living in Kent near liahgen.

DarrellRivers · 14/07/2009 21:02

top trump paedophiles
Would probably sell well
Don't let the NOTW get hold of the idea

ScoopDeMerde · 14/07/2009 21:02

He has been in maidstone for a long time. That is not the first report about him being in maidstone at a hostel.

morningpaper · 14/07/2009 21:02

It does look that way but I can't find the local newspaper story

If he was seen outside the dance school then the police (I assume?) are involved

Can you link to the story?

TheYearOfTheCat · 14/07/2009 21:03

MP - do you really have Paedo Trump cards?

morningpaper · 14/07/2009 21:03

No

It sort of would be cool though

Mums could swap them outside the school gates

FAQinglovely · 14/07/2009 21:04

he was in Kent in 2007 here

ScoopDeMerde · 14/07/2009 21:05

last time it was about the fact that his hostel was between a couple of schools and so many yards from a nursery.

FairLadyRantALot · 14/07/2009 21:05

hmmm...others have already said it, I think....but can you be sure it is true...because, well, them rags come up with a lot of shite...it may well be a perfectly innocent gentlemen photographed at the park and "named"

famishedass · 14/07/2009 21:07

I agree with mamazon, if he's out then surely he's on licence and can't come within 500 yards of a childcare establishment

If you see him anywhere near a childrens centre/school you should phone the police at once.

OrmIrian · 14/07/2009 21:08

What's a peadophile?

I'm concerned. I am partial to the odd mangetout peas. Do dance parents need to be warned about me

liahgen · 14/07/2009 21:15

Ok, I'm back, had to collect dh from station, he is now been fed and watered and is going through school report with eldest dd, (agghh)

It's Robert Oliver, and I wasn't aware he was in Maidstone before though it seems he has been for some time.

He's not on license as he got 15 yrs and has served 8, his conviction was from before the offenders register so isn't tagged.

Just a bit worrying really

top trumps not good according to st ann widdecombe who says it is "a question of restraint for the greater good."

i saw gary glitter in waitrose.

Pan · 14/07/2009 21:38

bit confused about Oliver not being on licence. A manslaughter charge in this example would have meant a 'life' sentence with a minimum period to serve in clink, followed by supervision til death. ( implied also by the fact he was in a probation hostel?)

Pan · 14/07/2009 21:48

as far as I can google, Robert Oliver wasn't actually convicted of murder or manslaughter. Hence the lack of a 'supervision til death' sentence.

Nope. Just realised his offences predate the 1991 Crim Justice Act. It is therfore poss he is indeed sans supervision, but he was being 'housed' at the hostel in the wider interests of the public.
