To cut a long story short I was in A&E today with terrible morning sickness. A wonderful young female Obstetricians sorted me out and was fabulous. We got talking and I asked her how she would give birth given what she had experienced and observed.

She said 100% c-section! She also said the hospital would never say no to a women who really wanted them.

I was quite delighted with her honestly but am quite shocked........making me think about 7 months time now!!

so you htink a childless ob/gyn who is used to seeing the morbidity of botched deliveries in an overstretched, demoralised and medicalised midwifery service has a better insight into natural childbirth?

maybe a bit of self educating better serve your wishes.

I do agree with her btw. with the state of maternity care in hospitals these days, I'd prefer a c/s over labouring in a hospital.

Very rarely do I get tempted to post something that might out myself. This is one of those occasions.

She spoke out of turn. Any senior obstetrician would agree with me. More than that, she is also wrong. I guess she, like others, has seen some terrifying things. But believe me, there are obstetricians out there who can look in the face of the worst our specialty has in it's power to inflict on us and our patients, and also say that natural and normal birth is still wonderful.
