He was getting out of a van as I went to get ds in for dinner and he walked over with two little girls, a little terrier and an almighty spliff hanging out of his mouth.

I told him I couldn't believe he was going in there and smoking, he came marching accross the car park towards me all macho before squaring up to me and having a go at me for saying it was disgusting.

He then stormed off going "Oh, my gosh!" taking the mickey out of the way I speak (I have a southern accent and we live in Lancashire). And it really didn't help that bloody ds then joined in going "Oh my gosh" at me too. Who's side is he on?!

I'm all shakey now and I doubt the bloody police got there in time to see any sign of him.

the op seemed concerned about the smoking, not so much the spliff.

i know there are laws about smoking spliffs.

i am annoyed that now smoking is banned indoors i find so much smoking outdoors. but hey ho, lots of things annoy me..like people wasting police time.

LilyAllensThirdNipple · 12/07/2009 20:23

i just want to tickle the op

hf128219 · 12/07/2009 20:26

But how do we know it was a spliff?

mrsruffallo · 12/07/2009 20:28

He sounds like a right idiot, and you are very brave to have confronted him.
You are not in the wrong here, it doesn't matter that you approached him first. I can't stand men who talk to women like that, it makes my blood boil.
I did smile at that bit about your ds though sorry

Nancy66 · 12/07/2009 20:29

I wouldn't have called the police. Over the top reaction.

mrsruffallo · 12/07/2009 20:29

You can smell a spliff

suwoo · 12/07/2009 20:30

Perhaps it smelt of weed . It is normally quite obvious what is a spliff and what is a roll up. FWIW, I wouldn't have called the police but I would have put my judgy pants on for smoking weed in a park and not in the privacy of his own kitchen

sleepymommy · 12/07/2009 20:33

I can't believe the reactions on here! The man was smoking an illegal substance in a CHILDREN'S PLAY AREA. How is this OK?
And if you don't know the difference between a spliff and a roll up, you've led a very sheltered life. I'd have called the police. And the OP's DS joining in isn't funny or cute, it's horrid and disrespectful, and mine would have been punished for behaviour like that.
OP, YANBU.

CKelpie · 12/07/2009 20:35

I am under no doubt it was a spliff, he waved it under my nose trying to convince me it was a double-skinner rollie. I wasn't convinced, I'm not that green.

I am bothered by the tobacco smoking around the children, the spliffing is secondary but none the less illegal.

Actually thirdnipple, I called my personal friend who is high in the echelons of Scotland Yard.

'punished'.

nice.

sleepymommy · 12/07/2009 20:42

Yes, sophable, punished. What's your point?

hf128219 · 12/07/2009 20:45

Of course I know what dope smells like - but there are other things that can create the same odour.

Without forensic testing we cannot categorically say he was smoking an illegal substance.

LilyAllensThirdNipple · 12/07/2009 21:22

cani tickle you please

junglist1 · 12/07/2009 21:25

U can tickle me, lil

LilyAllensThirdNipple · 12/07/2009 21:26

not intimately obv

but ill make you giggle

francagoestohollywood · 12/07/2009 21:30

Oh come on!!!!!!!!!

Ewe · 12/07/2009 21:33

I don't think it is a bad thing for the police to respond to calls like this, it's not an emergency but surely this is just the type of thing community support officers and specials are there for?

He sounds like a bully, it is completely unreasonable to smoke anything in a playground and I say that as a social smoker who is also partial to the occasional joint so I am not anti smoking at all but there is a time and a place.

Ronaldinhio · 12/07/2009 21:41

bloody hell..it isn't illegal to smoke outside and you don't know it was a spliff

I'm more worried about sleepymommy punishing her disrespectful child

a jest shurley??? or have I slipped into a time machine?

freyski · 12/07/2009 21:48

How would people have felt if he had got out of his van with his two children drinking a can of lager?

wolfnipplechips · 12/07/2009 21:50

I bet the police put there blues and 2s on for that one.

Is it any wonder its hard to get them when you really need them, like yesterday when i was assaulted by a guy at work and it took them an hour to get there.

You need a reality check.

Ewe · 12/07/2009 21:52

Oh come on, you can tell when someone is smoking a spliff, size, shape, smell etc.

If this were a couple of teenage boys smoking weed in a park I think you'd all probably find it fairly anti-social behaviour and want them to leave even if you didn't have the balls to do anything about it yourself.

WannaBeAKitchenGardener · 12/07/2009 21:53

YABU for reasons already stated

and lucky not to get your head kicked in too, probably

wolfnipplechips · 12/07/2009 21:55

their

motherinferior · 12/07/2009 21:55

Kids' play areas frequently make me yearn for a spliff, I must say. Although Ikea is worse.

Ronaldinhio · 12/07/2009 21:57

freyski...depends if it was his first can...
