To not give her £400?

That is how much my neighbour is demanding for new glasses as she is claiming that the tree in our front garden 'attacked' her and knocked them off! Now the tree does hang over the pavement a bit but it is high up! I have sat watching people of all heights walk by without incident including dh who is over 6ft, a lot taller than her! I want to shove her glasses where the sun doesn't shine!

ROLF!!

I've just read some of this to ds, he suggests calling the police to arrest your tree for assaulting her!

Tell her to get lost, she doesn't have a tree to stand on!

GumsNRoses · 09/07/2009 16:09

She should have gone to Specsavers

AddictedtoCrunchies · 09/07/2009 16:10

£400 for glasses?? I go to Boots and mine are less than £100 and that includes the anti-glare stuff. Are they like Dame Edna's with jewels on?

GumsNRoses · 09/07/2009 16:12

She might call in Special Branch you know

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 09/07/2009 16:14

It might be worthwhile calling your insurance company, it will give them a laugh and go down in history!

GumsNRoses · 09/07/2009 16:18

Good idea, let the insurance company get to the root of the problem.

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 09/07/2009 16:19

It will just be another leaf in their book.

saintmaybe · 09/07/2009 16:25

They'll probably twig that's she's mad

saintmaybe · 09/07/2009 16:27

Well they wood, woodn't they?

LittleMissBliss · 09/07/2009 16:28

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 09/07/2009 16:29

Tell her to go and bark somewhere else or just leaf it for a while and see what grows?

PMSL at some of your comments! They don't look worth £40 nevermind £400! Dh said he would make her a pair of wooden ones out of the tree lol

Keep digging and you are sure to get to the root of the problem.

Were you planning to prune the tree anyway, or is it being done because it is an obstruction/unsafe for pedestrians? If the latter, do you think she might use that fact in some way?

lollipopz · 09/07/2009 17:08

No its not unsafe at all its only a few branches higher up. I really dont see how this happened unless she was in my garden climbing the tree, which now I think about it she may have been to get a nosey in someones window.

£400 for a pair of spec??? Were they encrusted with diamonds or something? She's having a laugh. Tell her to go to specsavers

Earlybird · 09/07/2009 17:16

OK. YOu just don't want her trying to claim that you are now pruning the tree because she was injured, and others might be too.

gagamama · 09/07/2009 17:21

She sounds like a lun(ette)atic...

gagamama · 09/07/2009 17:22

No no, hang on... lunettes-tic.

lizziemun · 09/07/2009 17:35

I'll tell perhaps should go to somewhere elsr for her glasses if she can't see a tree.

lollipopz · 09/07/2009 17:53

I know early but she knew last week we were planning to do it because she asked and I have spoken to some other neighbours today who said the tree is safe and she is being batty! Still going to do bof's suggestion and take a pic of dh standing under it!
