I nearly had a fight in Matalan once, it was hilarious. I was in the queue with my DS1 when some scag came and pushed past me, I looked at them in a 'what the hell you doing' kind of way at which point she said quite agressivley that's my husband (in front of me)so I let her past. THe whole family were there - a really short dad, mum and two kids around 10/11, all in need of a good wash and some manners. Anyway next thing I know one of the kids is saying 'she's giving you dirty looks' and they all start this chorus up at the mum, quite blatantly looking for a fight! I'm not worried as I am probably as tall as all four of them stacked but still was a bit but the best bit was that DH (16 stone and 6'5" was walking back towards me) and said 'who's giving who dirty looks' and so I said 'apparently I'm giving this lot dirty looks' at which point they all shut up and scurried along the line and didn't dare look at us again. Oh how I laughed! We love being lanky in our house, sometimes it had benefits. It hasn't put me off Matalan though.

Chilli, you don't live in Castleford do you?

TheChilliMooseNeedsaDiary · 23/07/2009 09:44

That story made me smile this morning, Moonchild. I needed cheering up
I don't live in Castleford, but that's the Monsoon that I was talking about. Do you know it?

MoonchildNo6 · 23/07/2009 10:10

Do I know it, do I know it??? I'm down to Freeport everytime we come up. DH is from Ponte so we dump leave DCs with MIL and SHOP!

TheChilliMooseNeedsaDiary · 23/07/2009 10:12

Yay! It's one of my favourite places. Do you ever go over to Xscape? There is a great Chinese buffet there called Flaming Dragon.
Whereabouts down south do you live?

MoonchildNo6 · 23/07/2009 10:20

We're in Bucks,I'm from West London and we met in Birmingham!

We'll be up in a couple of weeks cos DS1 is staying with Granny and Grandad ON HIS OWN for a few days, we will bring him up for the weekend and grandad will bring him home Weds or Thurs. He has never been allowed to stay on his own (it is quite a way from us if he gets sad) so he is very excited but Grandad is more excited cos he gets to take him to DIGGERLAND .

We have only wondered through Xscape and watched the skiing but maybe we'll try it out when we come up. Yum Chinese!!!

TheChilliMooseNeedsaDiary · 23/07/2009 10:23

If you do ever have your DS with you, there is a good playcentre in Xscape too.

MoonchildNo6 · 23/07/2009 10:26

I'll send MIL in there then while I shop

TheChilliMooseNeedsaDiary · 23/07/2009 10:28

Good idea

MoonchildNo6 · 23/07/2009 10:55

Favourite shop in Freeport then Chilli?

Next is OK for me but rubbish for boys, they only have girls stuff.

Love Tchibo - how can you have an outlet tchibo, its so cheap in the first place!

M&S usually the per Una stuff as it is so much cheaper.

and Clarks of course!

KIMItheThreadSlayer · 23/07/2009 11:04

Morning

TheChilliMooseNeedsaDiary · 23/07/2009 11:07

Marks is great. It's a shame that they have stopped doing children's clothes though.
I have often wondered that about Tchibo.
I went to Next at the weekend and there was LOADS of girls stuff in the sale, but next to nothing for boys.
I guess Monsoon and Past Times are my favourite.
Hi Kimi birthday girl.

KIMItheThreadSlayer · 23/07/2009 11:17

hello, hums happy birthday as wonders through thread

MoonchildNo6 · 23/07/2009 11:17

Yes, agree on M&S but again they had very limited boy stuff. I guess boys stuff just isn't as appealing (read saleable) as girls. If you see something pretty you're more likely to go 'oooh how nice I must buy it' and you don't really do that with khaki combats do you?

Monsoon have THE most beautiful boys clothes - if you kind find a branch that sells it. And if you are loaded.

Kimi when are you off to play?

MoonchildNo6 · 23/07/2009 14:14
