ds 10 has recently started to play with kids that have recently moved in2 our area ,
the kids are VERY ROUGH , we live in a nice a area but these kids are running around in their bare feet , the kids are travellers ,
yet they are renting a house in my area , i am worried coz my ds thinks they are very cool, yet told me at dinner tonight that 1 of the kids has a pocket knife
AIBU to ban ds from playing with them ?

come from some employment background as pickyvic and have to say i would be concerned if my children were hanging around with kids carrying a knife, unless we living in an area/circumstances where it was justified (if it can be nowadays?), i grew up on a farm in a very rural area and back then it was the norm for older children to carry pen knives, but we were about the farm and actually used for things on the farm.

Ths child def shouldn't be carrying the knife about on the street or have it at school. i think i'd be looking to speak with the school.

not sure that these kids go to school
they knocked into my house at 7.40am yesterday morning & when ds told them he was getting ready to go to school they thought he was lying it was only when i told them my ds hadn't got time to chat they left . they live about a 5 minute walk away from my house .
not sure what to do for the best , should i ask the child to show me the knife or should i just tell my ds to stay away from them ?
thanks for all the advice

in my honest opinion id not bother to ask him to show you the knife, you may end up actually achieving nothing. i would just tell your DS to steer well clear.
you could always phone your local neighbourhood police team to let them know about the knife...a quick stop search would find it and it would be dealt with.
