To think that one of my children's toys is possessed?

We got it from a charity shop and after scanning the internet, a fellow Mumsnetter discovered what it was. It's a Pino robot. It grows up through 3 stages the more you play with it. It sings, dances, walks, plays games and does lots of other noises and movements.

Anyway, the kids left it turned on but ran out into the garden to play yesterday. When no-one plays with it, it's supposed to start snoring and go to sleep. I'm reading the paper. Suddenly it squeaks "Eh Oh!", I ignore it. It turns it's head around and moves it's arms, I ignore it still. Then silence. Then it starts singing Happy Birthday. I get mildly annoyed but it stops and there is silence. I notice a movement out of the corner of my eye, I look up and the bloody thing is looking straight at me. I say "fuck off!" and it shakes it's head!

I'm feeling a little freaked so I get up to turn it off, as I do so, it starts shaking it's head again. I decide to leave it for the kids to sort out, I gather up my paper and go to move into my room when the bloody thing starts WALKING TOWARDS ME!

I've never moved so bloody fast!

It's in dd's dolls cot. I've placed a crucifix on it.

It will probably melt the plastic.

MrsWeasley · 29/06/2009 18:00

Does it do these odd things at the children or just you an DH?

Rhubarb · 29/06/2009 20:31

Just me and dh Mrs Weasley, the kids haven't reported it growling at them in any case or going off for no reason. Perhaps I ought to ask them?

No, I really think you shouldn't!

Rhubarb · 29/06/2009 20:40

Well the batteries are coming out then. If the kids want to play with him, they can have them back in. Hopefully they'll lose interest soon enough.

I daren't turn DS1's on now. It's standing on his bookshelf. Mute and motionless but no doubt scheming.

Rhubarb · 29/06/2009 20:47

Just imagine if we got them together Soupy! Perhaps that's it, all the Pinos in the world have been set up to take over the planet! Perhaps their cock noses are really lethal weapons that they unleash on you in the dead of night. They're just waiting for the signal.........

I once had a robot dog (Sony Aibo) which had a mind of its own. Generally not too possesed but he would sometimes stare at me. Wish I had kept it now as I needed the cash and sold it for £800, they go on ebay for upto £3000 now.

Rhubarb · 29/06/2009 22:04

HOW MUCH?????

Ah poor Pino... Yes £3000, they was £1500 new before they discontinued them and getting very collectable now. I don't know much about the Pino, is it the one made by Sony? If so then it could be worth a small fortune.
