To not tell a (previous) sex partner I might have given him genital warts?

I was just told by ex-lover A that I probably gave him warts. I haven't had them myself, but probably carry the virus, and there are one or two others I am considering not to tell (or,perhaps, if it turns out IABU..)

As far as I know you are not duty-bound to tell ex-partners, as it is such a common thing and not something you can treat - not the virus anyway. My only concern is that one of the men I am planning not to tell is someone I slept with once, nothing has happened since but I am hoping we might develop into a relationship (not incredibly likely atm, but still) And if it turns out then I gave him warts and didn't say, I would at the very least have bad conscience.

I haven't been to the doctor yet so for all I know ex-lover A might have aquired them somewhere else, but as we had sex it is likely I'm infected anyway.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Do I have to keep confessing this to every future partner when I am symptomless?

I've got HPV ( and only 1/3 of my cervix left tto show for it.

I've never had warts.. Df and I have never discussed it and if i was infectious he'd ave got it after 6 years of unprotected sex..

I thought something lke 2/3 or women carried HPV?

Worzsel - your DF probably has got it. HPV doesn't affect men the same way as women and he might not have warts come up but he is most likely a carrier if you have been havign unprotected sex for so long.

We can share it between ourselves then

I seem to remember that you can get HPV from 'heavy petting' ( whatever that is ) too, not just actual penetration.

Stigaloid/Worzsel: The virus that causes warts is a different one to the one that causes cancer.

I will get it checked out, and then even if i have it hopefully it will just go away with no warts.

I get to know a lot about warts this way.. They are skin transmitted (?) so no, no penetration neccessary.

You can even get them in your mouth if you have oral sex. There are pictures on google - I wanted to see what the virus looked like magnified, soon as I hit enter I regetted it - do NOT picture google 'papilloma virus'!
