To think that, with the exception of gymnastics, men's sport is always more exciting?

Bit of a betrayal of my sex here but I honestly don't find the women's version of any sport all that interesting or exciting to watch:

Tennis
football
track and field
swimming

I'd always rather watch the blokes.

"Also your comment about the tennis club is exactly my point - there are a lot of ladies there, probably fewer who would define themselves as women"

and that is why i used that word specifically. it's very much a non-competitive, isn't good to be out of the house older-women sort of thing. where as the men (well for the most part and for me definitely) even though it's club night and we have to kind of act as though it's friendly non-competitive style games, i still effing hate losing. i want to win every point.

oh and agree on the wimbledon fans point, they're like christmas drinkers or sunday drivers.

I grew up in rugby country (proper rugby country not wussy Jeremy Guscott kinda rugby) and it really wasn't uncommon for women (including me) to be fervent supporters.

I watch Wimbledon more than any other tennis tournament becasue its accessible - if you work during the day you're generally limted to watching the odd highlight of other masters.

Having a sister who is manically competitive at both Tennis and rowing ( and runnig, and walking, and playing bridge and...) and regularly beats both her husband and her two teenage sons and can tell you that on the whole men do not want women to play sport ompetitively (apart from mud wrestling) which is why they have no interest in watching it.

In individual events I think its inspiring to watch pluck and determination and spirit and ingenuity regardless of sex, hence I enjoyed watching Kelly Holmes more than Usain Bolt.
