Lazy journos and their cut and paste skills. Four pages of AIBU cut and pasted from mumsnet. Can I have a job Independent? I'm rather skilled with the old edit button.

Pah.

And I wasn't namechecked.

OP posts:

And yes the topics were quite dull.

Baisey · 22/06/2009 11:44

They had the pick of all the AIBU topic and they chose those ones?!

screamingabdab · 22/06/2009 11:45

Yes, OrmIrian (YABU sucks to MrKrabs, I'm darned well gonna keep using bold ), what about the circumcision one, or the penguin one ......

beanieb · 22/06/2009 11:47

the IVF thread they have picked is a very old one really isn't it? I remember there being some unholy row about depression and someone telling people to pull themselves together. They shold have printed that - at least it would have been a bit more entertaining. Wonder if the Journalist is the same one who started that recent thread about her 'friend' being too old to start having children and having no sympathy?

JustineMumsnet · 22/06/2009 11:48

Laydees this was most certainly NOT a cut and paste job - some of those threads were very very long, and some of your grammar less than perfect .

We can't run to a marketing budget at MN Towers so it's quite useful when the papers do the job for us . So be nice!

screamingabdab · 22/06/2009 11:48

Hmm ....could be ...

screamingabdab · 22/06/2009 11:51

Oh, I see Justine.

Good job they didn't use the circumcision one then ....

OhBling · 22/06/2009 11:55

I was just about to come on here and say, "hang on, that looks like a great MN PR job". The Independent isn't claiming it as their own work or whatever, but it's great advertising for MN and is how PR is supposed to work.

But Justine beat me to it!

theloneposter · 22/06/2009 11:59

i think it's fine, all good advertising imo.

HecatesTwopenceworth · 22/06/2009 12:00

Crikey, could they not have picked better fights threads than that?

Can I get paid for copying stuff off the internet please?

HecatesTwopenceworth · 22/06/2009 12:02

ah. So pr rather than pinching

Still think they could have chosen better threads!

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 22/06/2009 13:25

what's DD 1/2? 1/2 a child? they misunderstood that I think.

giraffesCantRunA10k · 22/06/2009 13:29

Bloody hell. My sister is doing journalism at uni and she works bloody hard and writes articles for papers for free to get experience...I am sure she would be happy to help them if they are stuck

Yup I have passed the entrance test

theloneposter · 22/06/2009 13:31

i honestly don't get why people have a problem with it?

Hassled · 22/06/2009 13:36

What's odd is that several of the poster's names are Christmas versions - why go back to December for AIBU? And they didn't even pick particularly interesting AIBU OPs, in many cases.

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 22/06/2009 13:37

DS1/2 means one of two according to the inde

Ninkynork · 22/06/2009 13:42

My post is unrecognisable so I must be one of the people Justine is talking about wrt grammar.

I will be playing the sleepless-toddler card as always

KingRolo · 22/06/2009 13:43

I have never seen the DS1/2 on MN. Odd.

Qally · 22/06/2009 13:44

The Times did exactly the same on Valentine's Day. I'm shallow, though, so was just pleased they quoted me. Even if it was only on a handbag.

ClaireDeLoon · 22/06/2009 13:45

I have never seen people on mn say DS1/2.

What a load of lazy journos!

Frasersmum123 · 22/06/2009 13:59

me neither

triggerhappybaby · 22/06/2009 14:42

I wish they'd gone into Chat and featured Giraffe's Fanjo Fiasco's lolly stick tale of woe. That must be broadly representative of us surely??
