I think I have concluded from this that I am temperamentally unsuited to starting AIBU threads, except on very uncontroversial topics, such as "AIBU, or are kittens cute ?"

People forget. Those few who 'remember' threads and hold grudges are very tedious. Sometimes I find I've disagreed (very) strongly with someone on one thread and agreed passionately with them on another.
