Ggggrrrrrrr. I have posted a topic in "Good Housekeeping" but would like to rant too if that's allowed. Why oh why has my Dyson lost its suction? "The vacuum cleaner that never loses suction. Ever." Ha, what a joke. This is the second blooming Dyson that has done this to me. It's only 18 months old. I look after it and lavish loads of tlc on it, clean it out when necessary, etc etc. AIBU to expect it to do what the manufacturers and advertisers say it will do? Am I?

Well, I've just rang the Dyson helpline - tel 0800 954 0154 - and they've talked me through everything, I've discovered a secret filter that I never knew existed, have washed the disgusting thing and it's all working fine .... 10 out of 10 for customer service to Dyson

My Dyson always loses suction after about 5 mins of hoovering. Works fine again when I clean the filter (which I do with another vacuum cleaner), but cleaning the filter after every 5 mins is totally impractical. For a machine that's supposed to be an example of great engineering design (and has a price tag to match) it has a host of serious design flaws. The claim of "no loss of suction" is a straightforward lie. I am very disappointed and will never buy a Dyson again. I've just ordered a Henry (made in UK, quiet, economical and recommended to me by people who use them for a living). I'm hoping its simplicity will make it more practical.
