I went into an empty barber's shop to ask if he could trim dd (3) hair.

I was told 'we don't do ladies'

Bit peeved by his attitude TBH

AIBU??

Yes

Ooh was it one of those type places with the stripey curtainy things that hides the back shop?

Oh and a red and white pole outside?

Those types always seem to take things quite seriously. One of this "type" sprayed my ds quite liberally with water when he was small, ds cried and barber boy practically shouted at him that he would need to get used to it.

Legally, a shopkeeper can sell (or refuse to sell) his goods or services to anyone he chooses, at any time. He can't do things like refuse to sell to ANY asian people, or ALL disabled people, but if he just doesn't like how someone looks, the colour of your jumper, or the fact that you smell of gardenias, he can turn you away.

My guess is he hates cutting hair on squirming toddlers. Or maybe he was just going to have a sandwich, and didn't want to be bothered.

It's his business, his choice.

Took my sons to have their haircut yesterday and while I was waiting a woman came in to enquire about highlights. She was told that they only do men's hair.

No idea if it's legal or not, but it's clearly they way they work.

The phrase 'we don't do ladies' clearly means they ban all women, Clumsymum.
