To be pissed off that I'm not going to Glastonbury this year? ;-(

I have been eight times and I LOVE it, mud and all.
I decided not to go this year as dd is still too young and I'm bf.
I always feel sad when the festival comes nearer and I don't have tickets.
Mabe I can take dd when she's older. Un less she'd rather go with her mates.

I think I'm going to take dd to the Big Green Gathering and possibly Camp Bestival. Then I am going to save up and get a Glastonbury festival ticket and go next year- ALONE!

I never watch Glastonbury coverage on the telly. It makes me too sad. It just cannot capture the essence of being there and never shows any of the interesting bits (ie, all the stuff that has nothing at all to do with music but is just all to do with hanging around/eating/chatting etc).

I don't even know who's on this year anyway!

I have not gone for three years now. I am also not going to watch the coverage. I am going to sulk instead!

I've never been, the one year I was due to work it (DH did for over a decade and I did the security training) we were advised not to ('we' being females) becuase it was The Year Of The Wall and they were worried about violence; DH took my shift. I still think I was being set up LOL

I think about it each year though; but it gets ridiculously costly for more than one or two people. DH is looking at the IoW or Bestibvals events next year, but we shall see

I've never been to a festival.

Neither has DH.

I'd give it a go but DH looks at me like this about it.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 20/06/2009 10:30

Bill chill this year - for free AND friend is sectioning off an area for camping for us and our friends AND we are gonna get some food passes so might eat some roast dinners with some -zz-- b list stars . Or maybe we wont .

But not sure about it all, with dd aged 3, and being pg and all...dh us about it

FairLadyRantALot · 20/06/2009 10:51

YABU to be pissed off about it....afterall, it is your choice not to go....yes your choice is pre-determined by your circumstances, but I suppose your circumstances are part of the bigger picture and your bigger choices....

however, you would not be unreasonable if you just were a bit upset about it ....that would be a natural reaction

lucyellensmumisgreat · 20/06/2009 11:28

yeah well, ive NEVER been to glastonbury - i think its about time i tried to recapture my youth

poshsinglemum · 20/06/2009 11:40

I am a little bit upset about my decision not to go.
But it's £185 per ticket. That's a lot of money. And then there's food, alchohol, etc, etc, etc. Ouch. So I guess i should think about how much money I have saved.

I'm going. With my 6yr old DD and my 4 month old DS and I'm bf. I wouldn't let it stop you personally. I've borrowed an off rd 3 wheeler buggy which DD can fit in when she's tired and a sling for DS.

Mud washes off and you're breastfeeding so where's the hygiene issue? It's not like you need to sterilise anything.

I can't wait!

PuppyMonkey · 20/06/2009 11:51

Blimey £185!

I remember the second time I went, I just walked into our local record shop and handed over £25 for my ticket. No interweb registerisng thingy wotsit in them days, you just got a ticket from various shops etc.

And, of course, in them days it was all fields....

FairLadyRantALot · 20/06/2009 12:24

there you go.....there is good things to your decision not to go...

aDad · 20/06/2009 12:25

Mixed feelings really!

I quite like the coverage on tv, and no, it's not like being there, in that you actually see quite a few bands you probably wouldn't otherwise.

I'm trying to resist harping on about how it ain't what it used to be anyway (which it ain't ), but the knock-on of that is I hardly know anyone who goes any more, so all in all, although I do feel inevitable twinges of envy I quite enjoy kicking back and watching it on TV.

Enjoy, all who go, it's looking like a non-muddy year, you lucky things...

poshsinglemum · 20/06/2009 19:59

I just don't think that Glastonbury is a good environment for a one year old. I know that people take kids who are a lot, lot younger but I'm a real wuss.
I think i'd rather go next year when I can really have a laugh and not worry about dd.I am a bit of you though Markstretch! I feel like a wuss now!

I wouldn't take a one year old, but would take ds4 and his older sibling in a few years- OTOH I know many of the poeple working there esp. on security, and would never be far from a friendly face or if needed Mum's house.

Were I not in that situation I might think twice I agree.

sweetcat · 21/06/2009 15:12

Ooh, sorry but I am going for the first time and am soooooooo excited

Pekkala · 21/06/2009 15:24

I'm at Pilton already - the site looks beautiful...and it's dry, it's warm...and I've just looked at the weather forecast for the week ahead. Break out the suncream! WHOOP! WHOOP! (Sorry possibly a bit over excited, it's just after the past few years I am looking forward to (gasp) ... a dry one...)

giantkatestacks · 21/06/2009 17:15

grrr Pekkala

Beetroot · 21/06/2009 17:16

I am going

giantkatestacks · 21/06/2009 17:20

I love it early in the week when its only workers there and the fields are empty...but then of course I get a bit cross when it all gets filled up with punters...[unreasonable emoticon]

bohemianbint · 21/06/2009 17:39

YANBU.

We're going to the Big Chill with our two DSs (who will be nearly 1 and nearly 3) which is but still sad about Glastonbury.

BitOfFun · 21/06/2009 18:20

Portaloos. Yuck. Can't see the appeal >
