Hello,

I am stuck what to do, have the guilts!
I work 2 days a week at a school and even though we are not supposed to take time off in school time. I have gone and booked a holiday for 1 week in school time! uh oh

Are you really going to refuse a job for a holiday?

I hear what you are saying about needing a holiday but don't you need a job more?

nuttyworkingmum · 15/06/2009 19:37

Yes, I would because I can get extra work at my other job and get paid more!
I dont wish to leave, but could go on supply/bank, dont expect they would want me!
I do my TA job as experience not as a way to earn money because it just about pays my petrol plus the holiday cost nearly £600 thats 2 months wages

I don't want to be harsh but I'm not sure you are looking at this situation entirely rationally.

Presumably you got a good deal by booking a holiday which isn't during the school holiday. However is it such a good deal if you end up losing (a minimum of) one terms salary ?

If so then fine. If not is it through an agency ? Could you see if you could pay extra and change the dates ?

Whoops sorry missed your last post. Well if you are happy with the consequences if they turn you down, then fair enough.

But saying that I wouldn`t do what I did again in a hurry and not looking forward to telling the school, but hey whats life without a bit of drama.

Can you offer to work a couple of extra days in lieu - assuming you could fix up childcare of course?
I will be taking a day off in term time for DS's graduation (assuming he graduates of course, still waiting for the results ) but I had worked two days extra & asked to take the time instead.

ooh thats a good Idea, I will ask the school if that would be possible, I think TAs have swapped days before too so might mention that!
