DS is in yr 6 and traditionally the Yr6 parents have organised a barbeque after school for the Yr6 children and their families and teachers.I the past this has ben done on a pretty informal basis with people signing up to say send in a box of burgers or some drinks. This year there is a new HT who has said he doesn't want a BBQ on health and safety grounds and has asked some of the parents to organise it.They have decided that they willhave a picnic instead and have asked every family to send £32 which will cover food ,a momento of teh occasion and other bits and pieces.
It just seems so OTT to me.Wahat do you think ?

Our Year 6 are raising money themselves to pay for their leavers' evening - they will be running a lot of games at break & after school for the younger children to play at 5p-10p a go.

The leavers' photo is traditionally paid for by the PTA & given free - I'm not sure of the exact cost to the PTA, but it's nothing like £10 a head.

Bit unfair if one family consists of two adults and assorted brothers and sisters and another is a lone mum and child.

I did a party for 17 kids and 5 adults total food and drink £30.

I would eiter get involved in the organising and get them back to reality, organise your own rebel picnic, or just give it a miss.

That's insane!
'momento and other bits and pieces' - they want you to pay for a load of clutter, too?!

is there any chance the letter home should have read £3.20?
£32 is ridiculous

What is the dress code? Dinner jacket or lounge suit, evening dress fro the girls.

My dd's prom dinner didn't reach £32, although all the transport and dresses and hari and make-up etc cost a feww extra quid!

£32 are you sure the PA are not just trying to line the school funds with money left over

For a picnic that is extream (and it will rain it always rains)

Think you should speak to the school to see why it isw so much and how they got to that price in the first place

I really think you need to ask the Head or someone else about this and ignore Miss Snippy Knickers. Any reasonable person would have taken it on board so it makes me think like there is something strange going on. Are the organisers wanting paying for organising it?
