AIBU?

To get a bit annoyed about people asking why I've still got a little bump at six days post partum?

"Is there another one in there?","why have you still got a belly?"... I mean really, are people stupid or just plain thoughtless? FFS it's the last thing I need

I just calmly explain that my womb hasn't shrunk down all the way yet, my stomach muscles don't meet in the middle again yet and that there is undoubtedly a good layer of blubber there too. But still, it upsets me.

Would anyone really expect me to have a flat stomach again already so soon after the birth of my second baby in 19 months? I mean it's not all that bad, IIRC I was pretty much the same after DD.

A lady in Boots asked me when my baby was due two weeks after I'd had her. Oh God....

Jeez, when will people realise that truly the ONLY acceptable thing to say to a pregnant woman AND to a new mum is "you look fabulous"???? Even though you know in your heart of hearts it's bollocks, having someone say it really does help!

(By the way, you look fabulous )

Oh I can sympathise, I was out in the garden hanging up vests and babygros at 9 days post partum and a lady I know stopped to smile and say "It won't be long now!". I gave her a steely glare and said "He's inside sleeping". She visibly wilted and scuttled off, but came back the next day with a card and a present

Tell 'em to fuck off... how fucking rude of them. I hate the way that your stomach becomes public property when an ovum meets a sperm within.

My auntie, who has had seven kids, asked me if i had another one in there when she came to visit me a few days after dd was born. You'd think she's know better. I was so surprised by this comment, i didn't quite know what to say so said nothing. Fortunately I was confident my baby belly would gradually disappear (it did) so i didn't let her remark bother me, though i'm still a bit about her insensitivity 22 mths later
